A missed first encounter…

Colliding with a second chance…

On the heels of graduating college and trying to cope with her mother’s death, Emily Cooper moves to New York City for a fresh start.

While harboring secrets of his own, Dillon Parker takes care of Emily through her grief. Knowing he can’t live without her by his side, he’s sweet, thoughtful, and everything Emily has ever wanted in a man.

Until she meets Gavin Blake—a rich and notorious playboy who is dangerously sexy and charming as hell. Emily tries to deny the instant connection she feels, but Mr. Tall, Dark, and Handsome is not inclined to let go so easily. Recovering from his own painful past, Gavin will stop at nothing to win Emily over.

This unexpected encounter compels Emily to question her decisions, forcing her to make a choice that will destroy friendships, shatter hearts, and forever change her life.

“I want it all, Emily. I want to spend my nights holding hand with you. I want the all-day texting. I want the laughing and forehead kisses I want the date nights, the movie watching and the breakfast making…”

Liezel’s Thoughts:

“….until that fateful afternoon, Gavin Blake had believed that love, at first sight, didn’t exist.”

I agree this was a good start for this series and I will be patiently waiting for the next installment.

I loved Gavin’s character, on the other hand, I found Emily a tad annoying. And don’t even get me started on Dillon…

“I’m in New Jersey, but…..”
“You sound like a whiney sorority girl.”
“I moved you out here on my dime….”

Total ass.

Just frustrated that she stayed in a relationship and stayed engaged to that lying, cheating SOB. If I could just have reached into my ebook reader and slap her in the back of the neck and yell “leave his lying, cheating ass!” It would have made me feel better.

I don’t get why she was rushing into a loveless marriage in the first place. Why would you want to stay engaged to someone you obviously didn’t love anymore. Why would one want to stay in a relationship where you were having doubts at all?

I did enjoy the story. I thought it was smoothly written. Think this one came out strong for a debut writer and I’m  certainly looking forward to seeing what happens next.

The Verdict:

Casting Picks:

Ryan Reynolds as Gavin Blake.

Ashley Greene as Emily

What I would like to see in the next book?

Lots of drama! Dillon’s jealous Monica interrupting the wedding, Dillon’s mom making a scene at the canceled wedding. Gavin professing his love to Emily in front of the wedding guests. And eventually a sweet, romantic and over the top proposal by Gavin and a breathtaking Emily-Gavin happily ever after.
