Meeting Jett was like lightning. Dangerous. Better left untouched. And better forgotten. But lightning always strikes twice.

Brooke Stewart, a realtor in New York, doesn’t do relationships. When she’s sent to a remote estate to finalize a real estate deal, she discovers her new boss is no other than the guy she left naked in bed.

Sexy, dangerously handsome, and arrogant Jett Mayfield attracts trouble, and women, like a lightning rod. But the night he meets Brooke he gets more than he bargained for. The green-eyed millionaire playboy isn’t used to taking no for an answer, and he isn’t about to start now.

When he proposes two months of no strings sex, Brooke is intrigued and accepts his proposal. Little does she know Jett’s determined to claim the one woman he can’t have, pulling her deeper into his dangerous world.

A man who doesn't take 'no' for an answer.
A woman afraid to surrender to love.
Two lives that are about to cross...and secrets laid bare.

Liezel’s Thoughts:

“I hired you for your attitude, and so far I’m pretty happy with my decision. But I’m not sure I can work with you until I’ve fucked this attraction out of my system.”

I saw that the reviews were 4+ stars on Amazon and there has been lots of talk about it on Facebook so I decided to give it a try. I don’t know if it’s just me but honestly I was really disappointed about this one. And here begins my rant… I really love  stories that are part of a series but as an author you can’t just end a book like that, you still have a responsibility to your readers to finish your story. Basically what I’m trying to say was it was just way TOOOOOO cliffy for me. And if I had known better I would have waited til June 1st to read this one, where I could have book 1 and book 2 in my hands and not be this disappointed. I know a lot of you may disagree but I’m just throwing my opinion out there.

There were also some small things that bothered me about the story as well. Such as Brooke just agreeing to go to Italy not knowing who she was working for. Shouldn’t she have at least met the boss  first before flying across the world to join him? I know she needed this job but sheesh say “dangerous” with a capital D. Especially with her history she shouldn’t have been that trusting. Another thing that irked me was their relationship. Yeah they had good chemistry and the sex was sizzling but besides the one moment where she spills her secrets there just wasn’t enough romantic scenes for me and even that scene ended up with them in bed. To me it was just about sex so I don’t know how they could’ve fallen in love that fast. I wish that there were more details that would prove that they had truly fallen in love. Also she knew nothing personal about the guy really. Pretty much the basics and that he’s rich and that “he was so hot it was unreal.” What could they possibly have in common? Can a relationship like that  even work out in long run?  All I’m saying is it needed more details, more passion and more build up on the romance part.

So wet. I love it when you’re like this, for me.” he whispered in my ear. His deep voice quaked through me. His kiss sent another delicious pull in the deepest pits of my sex, taking my arousal to new heights.

I’m not saying that there weren’t any good things to this book. The sex scenes were pretty damn steamy. Jett was also very swoon worthy. A gentleman. Didn’t take advantage of her when she was intoxicated (twice). Not a rush to get his needs taken cared of… willing to just be the one doling out sexual satisfaction rather that receiving. And Brooke? I really admired her strength to survive after all that her family has been through. I’m glad that she maintained that strength in the end when Jett tries to explain. I loved that she had a good relationship with her bestie. I also loved that the background was different. It dealt in the real estate business which I’ve never read a romance  with that subject matter. I enjoyed the fact that we also jetsetted to Italy as well.

“This was insane. You’re incredible,” he whispered.
“You’ve given me more that I ever envisioned anyone could.”

Despite my disappointment as listed above, I still would read book 2 titled Conquer Your Love due out in June. I’m just hoping that in the next book that J.C. Reed would have a good reason why Jett would deceive her like that. To me, the way he handled things is just unforgivable. How could Brooke ever trust him again after that? I hope his reasons are convincing and if not than maybe the author could add a third person in there to make it even better. Say…love triangle! All in all, it was a good start in this series, just needs a little more detail. I would recommend reading this one but I would wait until it was closer to June that way you wouldn’t have to wait that long and be disappointed like I was.

The Verdict:

rating-3

Casting picks:

Jett Townsend was described as six feet two, dark hair a tad too long and disheveled, muscular broad shoulders, dark green smoldering eyes. I choose Tom Welling for this one.

As for Brooke Stewart there wasn’t enough description (that I could find) but I wanted someone sassy and sexy, in their twenties and had somewhat curly hair and picked Amber Heard.
