Fallon is a brilliant tattoo artist with inherent magic. Tired of men and their games, she climbs onto her Harley and leaves her old life behind.
Brody is a talented motorcycle mechanic and werewolf stuck in his painful past. It's just another depressing night until he's attacked by vampires. Thinking he killed them, he runs into the night and crashes into Fallon.
Unwilling to walk away from anyone in need, she heals Brody and then takes out the vampires who aren't as dead as he thought. Her past collides with the present, and she finds herself stranded in Edenton, Washington where an old friend lives. With no ride and no real plan, she winds up staying in Brody's empty apartment.
Feeling alive for the first time in years, Brody is determined to claim Fallon's heart and keep her safe from the shadows in her past. However, she prides herself on her independence and would rather keep him safe, even from herself.
With the impending danger from the group of vampires and dark mages, theywill have to work together. The closer they get, the harder it is for her to fight her attraction.

Be prepared for monsters, magic and lots of ink.

Liezel’s Thoughts:

Was wanting to take a break from my typical contemporary romance and dabble back into paranormal and was given the opportunity to review this book for B.L. Rivers. The story is posted as her first novel so I really was not expecting much but WOW… this story was way more that I expected.

soulstorm_by_psycheanamnesis-d5zbhipHaving a long history with paranormal reads I always figured that the first book in a series normally deals with a lot of historical narrative and world building, descriptive  mumbo jumbo but this one just gets right to it with the action, suspense and thrill. It immediately grabs you in and you’re unable to stop until you’re completely done.

I loved the kickass female lead, Fallon. She’s smart and talented, beautiful but not egotistically so, she’s powerful and resourceful and also loyal to her friends. Her counterpart, Brody is caring and protective, strong and powerful but not as skilled as Fallon yet this doesn’t bother him one bit. Most men would feel emasculated but he  always accepted  her skills . Them together,  they were  a force to reckon with.

“Since the night you saved my ass, I’ve been falling. Being with you just feels natural. When you aren’t with me, I feel emptier. Trust me….”

I loved the story was well. It was smooth and well-balanced. It wasn’t  saturated with passion and sex nor was it overly detailed with the action sequences or paranormal narrative. There were also some components – weapons and abilities and such that took me by surprise. I was truly impressed by the authors imagination.  The supporting characters also were interesting and I really am looking forward to reading more about them in the next book.

I  recommend this one for those looking for something more in the indie paranormal genre or perhaps like me – looking for something out of your typical contemporary romance . Just be sure that you allotted enough time to finish this one in one sitting because this is really one of those that you could barely put down!

The Verdict:

rating-5

About Brandy L. Rivers

I’ve always loved books, especially about monsters and magic, so I started writing. I’m working on a prequel and the next few books in the Others of Edenton series, and I have a head full of stories to share.

I’m a stay at home mother with a wonderful husband who lets me write and write to my hearts content.
