TRAGIC is over and Rook is ready for the future—Spencer Shrike and the STURGIS contract!
It’s three months of body art modeling! That means three months of Spencer Shrike’s paintbrush all over her body, three months in front of Antoine’s camera, and three months of twenty-four hour filming for Spencer’s Biker Channel reality show.
Wait a minute…what reality show? Maybe she should’ve read that STURGIS contract a little closer? 😉
Sure, Rook’s bank account is almost overflowing, but Ronin is angry, Clare is trying to escape rehab, Antoine is a worried mess, and Elise is just trying to hold everyone together. Her new family is about to fall apart before she even gets the chance to enjoy them.
Add in a mysterious man from her past, a road trip to the famous Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, and a final show in front of the entire world where all her good are on display, and you’ve Manic—a new adult contemporary romance that will definitely make your summer sizzle!
” You are everything I want. I love all your parts. I love the wary parts, the defiant parts, the independent parts, and your innocence and vulnerability. I want you next to me and when you’re not there I feel like a part of me is missing. I’m so in love with you, Rook. So fucking in love with you, it scares me.”
I have another trilogy to add to my favorites. I absolutely, positively, irrevocably love this series! It’s nothing like I’ve ever read before. There are multiple stories out there about bikers, rock stars and actors but never in my years have I come across a book about models.
This one is basically a “rags to riches” type of story. Rook came from nothing and because of fate she now has more than she can ever possibly want. The road to her success has been rough and even given all these opportunities she remains grounded. For a nineteen year old I thought she was sharp and witty. Obviously she’s very attractive but she never let that get to her. Being from humble beginnings she valued much. Just the simple things made her happy.
I did enjoy Ronin’s character too. There were times he made me so frustrated especially when it came to dealing with Clare but in the end he did follow through. He was always protective and caring of Rook. He would give up everything just as long as he had her in his life.
I was also impressed with the supporting characters most especially Spencer and Rutherford. Ford more than ever. The (almost) triangle just made the story even better. I loved how despite all their history and dynamics they were all able to get past that , come together and get “things” done.
The best thing I loved about this book? It doesn’t contain a cliffhanger AT ALL which I find really rare in series books nowadays. Even without a cliffhanger the author is able to hold my attention and still making me beg for more. Kudos to you JA Huss for writing one fantastic, suspenseful , provocative and sexy story.
This is definitely one series that I highly recommend.
