“My heart, my life, and my love are yours. I give you those things because I love you.”
This isn’t a book for the faint hearted. Take that book warning seriously! If you loathe violence, slavery, rape and drugs than this isn’t a good choice for you. All that doesn’t bother me, as long as it has one serious plotline to back it up like this one did, I’m all for it. That being said, I thought this book was just AMAZING.
From the very beginning it enraptured me. Here we have two broken characters with abhorrent pasts that come together by fate. They’re relationship is tested time and time again but despite all the odds their love and devotion sees them though. Getting there is rough and let me tell you it wasn’t pretty. There were certain situations that were just so gut wrenching and heart breaking of course I used the box of Kleenex sitting on my bedside table. The book warning seriously should have mentioned that I needed to ready a bottle of Shiraz at the halfway point.
I thought the details that were put into this story was just simply remarkable. I was really fascinated with the deep and emotional passages. It was also suspenseful and action- filled. The sex and violence was borderline over the top but appropriate for the story. I sure see this one as a potential movie. It just had so many thought out elements that made it that impressive.
If I sat down and made a categorized list of my favorite reads then this one would most likely be on 4 of those lists – Top 5 Dark Romances, Top 5 Hottest Rock star Romances, Top 5 Standalones and Top 10 2013 Favorites. It’s just simply extraordinary.
A woman with a white-blonde pixie haircut backed out of the shop and dammit if he couldn’t stop himself from gawking. She was slender, but not in a bones-pressing-skin kind of way. She had a figure that could only be toned with good nutrition and rigorous activity. Oh yeah, she was built for stamina.
She locked the door, and turned toward him, tipping back her head.
The bluest eyes he’d ever seen stared up at him. They were ringed with navy and glimmered with silver flecks. They were also wide with…fear? No, that couldn’t be it if her smile were anything to go by. Her beautiful face seemed to swallow up the glow of the streetlamps, the passing headlights, the goddamned moon.
“Hi.” Her smile wavered. “You look lost. Can I help?”
Oh Christ, her voice. It was the complete package, like the full-bodied Fsus2 chord humming from the hole in his Martin Acoustic. Gentle, cool, hypnotic—
“You’re lost, right?”
She had no idea. “Just found what I’m looking for.” Smooth, Jay. What the hell was he doing?
