Angels are falling from the sky in New York, struck down by a vicious, unknown force.
Vampires are dying impossibly of disease.
Guild hunter Elena Deveraux and the Archangel Raphael must discover the source of the wave of death before it engulfs their city and their people, leaving New York a ruin and Raphael’s Tower under siege by enemy archangels.
Yet even as they fight desperately to save the city, an even darker force is stirring, its chill eyes trained on New York…and on Raphael. Rivers of crimson and nightmares given flesh, the world will never again be the same…
Liezel’s Thoughts:
As the Archangels age they’re powers continue to evolve and become even stronger. Some archangels are almost pushed to the brink of insanity because of this and develop this godlike complex where they think they could become an exclusive powerhouse that can rule the entire world.
Raphael has that same potential but because of Elena, she is able to be do what Michaela wasn’t able to do for Uram or Caliane for Nadiel – to save their consort from that verge of madness.
Not all the archangels are that lucky. A certain one in particular thinks they have reached their full potential and that it is their time to become a God/Goddess. Amassing an impressive army and somehow managing to acquire another from an unknown existence they aim to destroy every territory.
Alliances are formed but even so, the capabilities gained are way beyond what they ever imagined. Just when everything is lost, the unthinkable happens… out of desperation Raphael develops fully into this “shared” power but will it be too late to save the world?
“We fall, we fall together.”
Just when I thought that the series can not get any better, Archangel’s Legion just proved me wrong. Not counting Angel’s Blood because of the initial world building, I would have to say that this is my favorite in the series.
Archangel’s Legion is about friendship and loyalty, about building relationships and allegiance and most especially it is about how love can definitely conquer all.
There’s so much to love about this book. First of all, there’s the kickass female heroine Elena. Just made , she is nowhere near perfect. She is weak compared to the others but she is just as fearless as she was when she was just a mere hunter. Her hunter abilities and the ones she just acquired will no doubt eventually increase her expertise and ingenuity in the later books.
Even when Elena is pointed out to be insignificant by others after Raphael’s affection she never doubted what they have is substantial. Being new in her role as consort she adjusted well and shows so much sincerity in dealing with their constituents. Her loyalty to her friends and to the guild is also encouraging.
I also enjoyed the way the author was able to showcase some of the minor characters in the series without it overshadowing the main story. Amongst the seven, Illium always compelled me the most but in this one I find someone even more intriguing than my precious Bluebell and I am hoping that he too will get his own book.
I found the allegiances that were formed between some of the most powerful Archangels’ most interesting. The suspense was exemplary and the very descriptive final battle had me at the edge of my seat throughout the end of the book. The action sequences were so much more detailed then the previous books which I absolutely appreciated.
As with the rest of the series, the world building was exquisite and unparalleled to anything that I’ve ever read in the genre. The author sure has one helluva imagination! Great job Nalini Singh…I predict this one to be another bestseller.
