Slade and Samantha's story continues...
There were so much things going on in this book. I do have to admit that it kept the story flowing which I very much appreciated but there were some aspects of this story that didn’t work for me.
In the beginning we find Samantha dealing with the death of her mother. She was a total mess. The feeling of guilt was plaguing her. Through all of this Slade was there to comfort her. I thought he was amazing. Whether it be physical contact or just space he knew exactly what she needed. I loved how even his busy family came through and supported her through that difficult time.
While this was going on there was someone from Sam’s past reconnects with her – Tate. Sam doesn’t recognize him at first but we eventually find out they have a very long history.
Trying not to give anything away. Tate grew up with Samantha and is even more involved in her life then expected. There are important secrets that are divulged regarding their relationship but rather than coming out with it, Tate decides to keep these hidden which I don’t understand why . If anything Samantha needs to know these secrets especially in her time of mourning.
“That is my heartbeat. It only beats for you, Angel. It has always only ever beat for you. I only breath for you. All I think about is my forever with you.”
When they finally make it home I thought that the couple would get a nice reprieve after that emotional toil that they went thought but there is more drama in the works. First, there seems to be someone after them. Originally it played out as if it was a random incident but as the story progresses it’s more than that. It is unclear if they are after Samantha or Slade and we don’t get to find out how that issue is resolved in this book.
The second issue is the women from Slade’s past causing trouble. There shouldn’t be a doubt in Samantha’s mind that Slade loves her with all his heart . He has proved this to her multiple times over in my opinion and instead of facing these issues like an adult she acts out. I thought the way she dealt with those problems were irrational and immature. That entire situation sure did spring out some amazingly hot make-up sex though. Honestly the romance part is the most impressive thing about this series.
Bottom line is I thought there were some good things about this book and some that just rubbed me the wrong way too. Even with my issues though I am looking forward to reading the conclusion to Slade and Samantha’s story and hoping that those unresolved issues are addressed.
