“All my life, I battled with the knowledge I was twisted… fucked up to want something so deliciously dark—wrong on so many levels. But then slave fifty-eight entered my world. Hissing, fighting, with a core of iron, she showed me an existence where two wrongs make a right."

Tess is Q’s completely. Q is Tess’s irrevocably. But now, they must learn the boundaries of their unconventional relationship, while Tess seeks vengeance on the men who sold her. Q made a blood-oath to deliver their corpses at Tess’s feet, and that’s just what he’ll do.

He may be a monster, but he’s Tess’s monster.

Liezel’s Thoughts:

“You stole my loneliness. I may have given you wings, but you’ve become my gravity. I’ll never be free of your force.”

For four days Q has been struggling with himself. He is hesitant about touching Tess in the way he wants to. He needs her in the most primal way possible but is afraid to give into his needs because of the darkness that he possesses. Tess is willing to give into his every whim. Her feelings are so intense for this man that she is willing to risk it all…even her life.

“I said I’d fight for you. That you deserved to be fought for. You’re worth every fight. Every argument and bump in the road. I’ll fight because I’m falling for you, Q.”

Just when you think that everything could be any more perfect in their world, Tess’ s past catches up with her. Again she finds herself in an even worse situation  as she was  in before she met Q.  He needs her like he needs air. He will not give up until he finds her again. He is willing to relinquish all his power, sacrifice his reputation, his wealth and even his sanity to get her back and once he does he finds a shell of a woman that he once knew. She is broken. He tries to nurture her back  but this time around he isn’t getting anywhere. He begs and pleads with her, gives her enough time and space but nothing is penetrating the walls that she has built around her.

“I had no fucking life before you. You are my life. Without you I might as well take a shotgun to my head and join you in the dirt…”

The guilt Tess feels for what her captors did to her  radiated within her. She says  that she is beyond repair. She knows that when Q finds out what she was forced to do he would never accept her again. She sees the pain that she is causing Q  and the only way she thinks would help him get past this was … unacceptable in Q’s eyes.  He again struggles with himself. He refuses to stop her if what she needs is her wings to get better. It takes a good friend to realize what he needs to do.

” She’s your other half, Q…If there have ever been two people who belong together, it’s you.”

QQTeaser3 (2)

First of all, I need to say that this book isn’t for everyone. It is dark and oppressive, involves slavery, BDSM kink and blood play. So if you can not keep an open mind and read about such things than this is NOT  the type of story you want to be reading. As Tess says “This is us. This was our fuckedupness learning how to live without guilt and shame.”

Quintessentially Q occurs four days past the conclusion of Tears of Tess. Since these books are so well entwined with each other I would 100% recommend that these be read as part of a series. For me, Tess’ s past and the history between the couple is necessary to get an over all better picture.

That being said, as much as I enjoyed Tears of Tess it doesn’t come close to how much I loved Quintessentially Q. From the very start I was  captivated by this intense and dark story. I thought the romance was remarkable. Q wanted to own her in every way possible and Tess was willing to give whatever he needed. He is possessive and overpowering, dark and all consuming. As he very well put it – a monster. Because of their intense love she was willing to accept him for all that he was. Q has never felt this way before but he was just as enamored as she was. He was as if she was born for him. They fit perfectly.

The delivery of this story was just outstanding. It was equally told in both Q and Tess’s point of view which I thought was also done very smoothly.  Written in this manner I thought the  author was able to convey both Q and Tess’s  feelings and inner struggles impeccably.  I thought it was very well written, I could literally feel the turmoil that each were experiencing throughout the entire book. The suspense was also on point.

There aren’t enough adjectives for me  to express to  you how great  I thought this book was. I literally can go on and on about how much I loved this story and if you start out reading this series with an open mind I am sure you would too.

The Verdict:
