I may have had more lovers than you, and I may take my clothes off for countless women, but you are the only one who can strip me bare.

Do you ever stop loving someone just because they’re gone?

Five years ago, Ryan Pierce disappeared from Alana Remington’s life without leaving so much as a post-it note behind. He was the one she gave her heart to, her soul to and her virginity to. So imagine her surprise when she finds him dancing at one of NYC’s hottest male reviews as Jack the Stripper.

Ryan never stopped loving Alana, and now that she serendipitously dropped back into his life, he’s vowed never to lose her again. But being together has its costs, and challenges Alana isn’t sure she can handle. She finally has Ryan back; but how in the world is she supposed to share the love of her life with half of the women in New York City?

Liezel’s Thoughts:

I do have to admit that I was a tad hesitant about reading this story since most books I’ve read that involved strippers have been such a let down. However,  “Strip Me Bare” was anything but. It was a hell of a lot more than I expected!

The heroine of the story – Alana was raised a privileged yet  sheltered most of her life. Living  alone with her father, she pretty much had this unattached and unemotional upbringing. The one thing that got her by was her best friend and cousin Emily. Late in her teens, she also met Ryan who she thought she could have loved forever but after their very first night together he up and disappears.

Can you even imagine what can do to one’s ego?  It was if he just vanished from the face of the earth. She tries to live her life and while she was succeeding when it came to school, as far as dating goes she just couldn’t move on.  No one could ever compare to what she felt for Ryan. It took them five years… five long years for their paths to cross again.

The way they reconnect though was just jaw-dropping. How would you feel if you found the man you’ve only loved dancing half naked on stage entertaining a multitude of hungry women? Not so great. But when Ryan sees Alana again he is determined to convince her that despite all that time he was gone she is the only woman in his heart.

“I may have had more lovers than you, and I may take my clothes off for countless women, but you are the only one who can strip me bare…”

At first, I would have never thought that the reason he disappeared could ever be acceptable. Look how wrong I was! What ever he did all those years truly demonstrated the man he really is. The guy was a martyr. A swoon-worthy one at that. After his painful explanation he is out to win Alana’s heart all over again and when they finally get to their HEA the past repeats itself. This time around though Alana is on his side and she will do just about  anything for him to remain by hers.

I’ve read numerous amounts of stories that involve strippers – female and males alike and I have to say that this one is by far one of my favorites. I loved it for its passion and depth and also the way the author was able to broadcast that message that… “True love does conquer all.”

My only regret was not being able to read Ryan’s thought in all this but I just recently found out that Marissa Carmel is releasing a prequel in Ryan’s POV in the summer. So excited!!!

The Verdict:
