With more lives at stake and games in motion, Ellie, Camden and Javier form an uneasy alliance that will take them from the treacherous streets of inner-city Mexico to the wilds of the Honduran jungles in order to find their freedom. But with liberty just on the horizon, the cost might come at their own redemption.

Liezel’s Thoughts:

“Beyond the ocean and the world and the stars. You’re mine beyond that, baby and I’m yours…”

Everything about this book unfolded like a movie – think high-speed car chases, kidnappings,  blood and gore, guns, bombs and explosions and of course unbridled passion.  I have to say all of it was a continuous adrenaline rush. From the very beginning, Bold Tricks had my heart rate racing and it never seemed to let up until the very end.

What was it about this finale that made me feel this way? Well, if you remember at the very end of   Shooting Scars, Ellie is literally put smack in the middle of one precarious situation with Camden on one side and Javier on the other. No matter how you look at it there was no way that these circumstances can be good.

As a matter of fact, nothing in the book comes easy for her. Not only does Ellie have to deal with both men – one trying to manipulate her and one trying his best to ignoring her but she also has to beat the odds in saving lives without losing hers in the process.  Despite all the pressure  Ellie surprises us yet again and demonstrates her never-ending resourcefulness. She gives it her  ALL and makes the best of any given situation. Don’t get me wrong, she isn’t 100% but to me, that was another good thing about the story. Her reactions were real – giving the story an overall sense of authenticity.

Through the difficulties, she isn’t alone in her plight. No matter what happened in the past that led to their fall out Camden too manages to step it up a notch. He goes above and beyond to protect the woman who then shattered his heart.

I do have to admit that early on in the series I had my doubts if Ellie and Camden were a proper fit. Ellie was always rough around the edges and to me Camden was way too mellow for her. But in  Bold Tricks, he spares no effort in demonstrating how far he would go for Ellie. Unexpectedly, he becomes a different man – a man much more worthy of Ellie. What was beautiful about it was the way Karina Halle melded them together. She enabled them to become what each other needed and she manages to do so naturally.

If you asked me to describe Bold Tricks in a single word – it would be FLAWLESS. Everything about it was just phenomenal.  I would certainly recommend this series for those looking for an action filled romance that has the perfect balance between passion, drama, and suspense.

The Verdict:

I would add to what I have started on my left shoulder. It’s going to be big by the time it is done. It will have several parts to it to represent all of the places I’ve lived. As a military spouse, every place we’ve been has shaped who I’ve become and it would make for a pretty awesome tattoo. I’m adding to it this summer!

  2. Atalia M.

I would probably choose a quote or butterflies going down my spine.

  3. Amanda Vinson

I would get dolphins jumping out of the waves toward the moonlight on my lower lrg

  4. Desiree Griggs

I would finally get my dia de los muertos lady skull tattoo with and added rosary, the beads all individulalised to a lost loved one, on the entire upper part of my arm, to me it will signify all of my lost loved ones I

I think they can be beautiful but I couldn’t do it. Not because of the needle, but because there just isn’t anything I’d want on me permanently.

Thanks for the giveaway! I have 2 tattoos right now. But I want sooooooo many more! I have 3 in mind that i want. I plan on getting “never let your fear decide your fate” on my ribcage. I also want “we accept the love we think we deserve” on top of my shoulder. And for the third I want a tiger on my side going down onto my thigh with a flower incorporated with it in my sons birthstone color. I also need to get the heart tattoo I have ion my hip touched up. Damn you stretch marks. But seriously though if someone would like to donate to this single mommies tattoo fund, be my guest! 😉

I’d love to get something with my children’s names on it on my shoulder/upper back. I’ve always loved the idea of incorporating Japanese Cherry Blossoms into it. Thanks!
