Matt Sky is missing. After a solo ascent of Longs Peak that left only a large blood stain, tatters of climbing clothing, and the tracks of an animal in the snow, he is presumed dead ...
Hannah Catalano is guarding a secret ...
Tensions rise, secrets grow bigger, and passions run deeper in the highly anticipated second book in the Night Owl Trilogy.
Liezel’s Thoughts:
If you’ve read the epilogue in the first book, you know that it just might not be possible that they even be together because the popular author known as Matthew Sky was proclaimed dead and Hannah is left behind to pick up the pieces. We aren’t just talking about his estate here. Matt left so many important unresolved issues that could test anyone’s integrity.
Hannah’s trust and love for Matt was unwavering which for me considering how their relationship began was quite surprising. She literally would have done anything to protect her elusive lover. She was pushed to the limit so many times yet she accepted everything calmly.
I for one couldn’t help but admire her tenacity. How she took Matt’s acts of desperation was absolutely admirable. There were a few more than delicious and irresistible temptations in the periphery that had even me sighing and my heart beating rapidly but even that could not displace her loyalties. Hannah’s character is most definitely a head turner in this book.
After reading this page turner, I remember why I added it to my Most Anticipated List early this year. The series is just remarkably daring and most certainly unforgettable. It wasn’t just because it contained some of the raunchiest dirty talk and phone sex imaginable (and well …sex in general) but what caught most of my attention was the writing.
Let’s face it, a lot of the elements of Matt and Hannah’s relationship was seedy as (F*) all get out but despite all that plus the deceit, lies and manipulation, M. Pierce convinced me repeatedly and wholeheartedly that this couple surely were meant to be together. Against all odds even “death” couldn’t separate them.
I would have to say that Last Light was just as captivating as its predecessor. It possessed so many astonishing moments that rendered me speechless. I immensely enjoyed this one book and of course Book 3: After Dark is on the top of my Must Read List.
