Layla O’Leary has had enough. For years she has been haunted by the night she can’t remember. When she learns the only man she's ever loved has betrayed her, she escapes and crafts a new identity. She's finally free...

Carter has waited eight years to claim his woman. Locking him up only fueled his obsession. The day he gets out he's coming for her. Taking the Fall was just the start. Now he'll stop at nothing to possess what's his.

Warning: this book contains a hero who grunts and growls his way through life, a heroine nicknamed Cherry looking to lose it, and instalove so fast and hard your panties might disintegrate. Note: not responsible for exploding panties.

Taking the Fall is a four part story. A new part will come out every two weeks. Please note the endings are NOT relationship cliffhangers. Layla is Carter's.

Liezel’s Thoughts:

Before reading this book, you need to know that “Taking The Fall” is the first installment to a four-part series. For some this can be an issue but personally  it was perfect  since I was looking for something short and sweet. I do have to admit that  I do feel like I was left hanging BUT given that  more of the story will unfold in two weeks time – it didn’t bother me as much.

“Taking The Fall” is told in both  Carter and Layla POV’s. In this first  book, we find out their history – how they first meet, how despite being separated for years that they still felt deeply for each other and  how they eventually throw out their hesitations, give in to their emotions and come together.

“Taking The Fall”  was a satisfactory introduction. Being as short however it wasn’t as detailed as I preferred it to be. There were a few gaps in the storyline but the good thing about  it was those gaps were easy to fill in since the story is easy to pick up on.  I thought it  gave me just enough information to formulate my own ideas and conclusions and at the same time giving  me the opportunity to ask more questions.

“…being away from her for so long, has only made my obsession grow. It’s like I have something inside me clawing to get out and claim her. I need this to take the edge off so I can do what needs to be done after tonight. For her. The need to dominate her is all-consuming and unstoppable.”

From the very beginning I was enraptured. I thought the story flow was terrific.  There wasn’t a boring moment. What was great was despite the  length it still made a strong impact most especially with the characters. I loved Carter’s alpha-male attitude. The way he took control of certain situations, how he went out of his way to protect Layla and the way he came to possess her was downright outrageous.  The chemistry between the two was just A-a-aaamazing!

Just like the previous books that I’ve read from this author I was left wanting more. All of her stories to me are overall noteworthy. I think this  is because she not only delivers these unforgettable deviginizing/deflowering scenes but she also tells stories that straddle the boundaries of what I personally consider the taboo therefore – interesting.

I enjoyed this book can not wait to read more! Three books in, I deem Alexa Riley as my go-to writer  if I was looking for a fast and easy yet smoldering hot and captivating romance.

The Verdict:

rating-4

About Alexa Riley

Mom, wife, and business woman by day and smut writer by night. I specialize in the Dirty Date Night reading. I wrote my first book, Owning Her Innocence, because well, I just couldn’t find any daddy books to my liking. So I sat down and just started writing, bringing the fantasies I find myself often dancing to in the dark of night to life, one page at a time.

Alexa Riley is my alter ego. I can’t let the other soccer moms know what I’m up to or the guys at work for that matter. Little do they know that they’ve got nothing on my dirty talk.

I’m here to give you a quick fix of filthy dirty smut. Got a few hours to kill? Then I’m what you’re looking for.
