Happily ever after.
That was what we were supposed to have.
Pudding cups, sandy toes and a lifetime of making each and every one of our dreams come true—that is the future I’d promised her.
I could see it in my dreams, hold it in my hands, but then I watched as all of our hopes and wishes suddenly slipped through my fingers like sand.
I thought the worst was behind us, but what if we’d just delayed the inevitable?
They say love can overcome any obstacle. But can it survive death?
The breathtaking love story of Lailah and Jude concludes in Beyond These Walls.
Of all the fictional couples that I’ve come across so far this year, it was this couple – Jude and Lailah who I wanted most to get their HEA. If you’ve read the “Within These Walls” you know why I say this. They have been through hell and back and in all things these two deserved their happiness more than anyone else.
In the first part of the story they get just that. We find them making that final step into their “forever”. And while I thought these scenes may have been overwhelmingly sweet, it was so – them. Jude was undoubtedly willing to do everything within his capabilities to create a day that Lialah would remember.
I’ve mentioned how much I admired Jude character in my previous review and I have to say that I adored him even more so in this book. I loved that even with Lailah healthy and whole he remained committed to helping her cross off all those things that were still left on her “Someday List.” After all that she went through growing up he wanted her to experience everything that life had to offer. His priority was always going to be her and her obtaining immeasurable bliss and contentment.
“Love was eternal. Love was endless, and love would carry us through the storm to the other side – whatever it might be.”
Everything in their world was perfect but that immediately changed when they receive life altering news. At this point this is when I felt this deep respect for Lailah. Early on she knew that even if her life would be at stake that this was where she was meant to be. This was her fate and she welcomed it with open arms.
This is the one important thing that I loved about this amazing couple…no matter what trials and tribulations that came their way they were always willing to take things on as long as they were together. Sure it took awhile for Jude to accept the issues at hand but in the end it was their love and devotion for each other that got them through all of it.
Just when I thought the author wouldn’t be able to wring another tear after reading that first book, I was just as an utter mess while reading “Beyond These Walls”. I commend the J.L Berg for being to able to stay within the theme and in delivering another powerful and emotional story.
I swooned, I giggled and attempted repeatedly to stop the water works from happening but no matter what I tried Jude and Lialah’s predicament got me every single time. The ending was understated but despite that it didn’t take away from the overall beautiful love story.
