There are many rules a priest can't break.
A priest cannot marry. A priest cannot abandon his flock. A priest cannot forsake his God.

I've always been good at following rules.
Until she came.
My name is Tyler Anselm Bell. I'm twenty-nine years old. Six months ago, I broke my vow of celibacy on the altar of my own church, and God help me, I would do it again.
I am a priest and this is my confession.

Liezel’s Thoughts:

I had so many uncertainties about this book… the reason being that I was raised in the Catholic faith all throughout my life. With all the buzz that this book was garnering however,  my curiosity got the best of me and I found myself “one-clicking” despite my hesitations.

As you know, the story involves a twenty-nine year old priest falling for one of his parishioners. Just the mere thought of the subject had me feeling so uneasy but at the same time I became so guiltily enthralled.  I needed to know what kind of priest would risk giving up his vows and what kind of woman  would allow him to do so.

“I was a priest. I was sworn to God not to know another’s body while I lived – not even my own body…

Father Tyler Anselm Bell definitely wasn’t anything that I imagined. He went into the vocation with good intentions, he was passionate about his chosen path and was exceptionally good at his job, he was committed in making a difference in his community and they in return loved him for it. He didn’t  have this “creep” factor that I  expected at all. As a matter of fact, there wasn’t anything maliciousness about him. The guy was in a way perfect, which had made me thinking that all of this had to be Poppy’s fault.

“..you’re also a good man. And doesn’t a good man deserve a little indulgence every now and then?”

I really wanted to hate her being the seductress that she was but as the story moved along I found out that she wasn’t like that at all. She never had ill intentions like I thought. She never meant this to happen. She never meant to fall in love. Everything just felt right with them. The things that they did were smoldering  yet disgusting especially with all the sacrilege that goes on within the church but when you read sentences like this...

“The kiss that sealed something, something that transcended the physical and the spiritual. They were no longer separate and divided, but one…”

…you begin to wonder that even amazing that Tyler was as a priest that maybe it wasn’t his calling after all. That alone made me contemplate that perhaps no matter what the circumstances are that there is  that one person out there that was destined to be yours.  Tyler hit it right on the nail when he asked…

“…Why would God bring Poppy here if I wasn’t supposed to fall in love with her?”

I was hesitant going into this story at first but even after the discomfort and awkwardness that I felt, I don’t regret it because”Priest” was a compelling story that  pushed the boundaries to the limit which forced me to think outside the box. I would definitely recommend this book for those romance readers that are looking for a  provocative, thought-provoking  and heartfelt love story.

The one type of book that I just can’t read is anything that involves child molestation (the detailed kind)…. just doesn’t sound entertaining to me AT ALL.

  2. Marcy Meyer

I haven’t come across anything that I absolutely won’t read. There are elements in books that I may not enjoy, like cheating, abuse and secret babies, but those don’t necessarily deter me from the entire book.

I won’t read child sexual abuse book. That’s the ONLY hard limit for me.

  4. Samantha

Well, the one type of book I don’t read is erotica with BDSM stuff. I don’t mind steamy books, but when the entire book is about the sex, its not for me!

I read just about everything with the exception of those books that have a religious overtone (not like Priest…I’m talking about ones that have the characters getting all religious and having God guide them…I am not religious at all and those books that are squeaky-clean, goody-goody religious type are soooo not for me).

I usually avoid historical romances, but I will try them if someone I know has good taste recommends it to me.

So far….I read pretty much everything. Haven’t found anything that is a ‘hard limit’ yet.

I don’t do incest I don’t mind the stepbrother since its not related by blood but I cringe if they call each other sister or brother in a sex scene

I don’t think I have ever come across a book that involved incest…but I do agree with you that would be a big NO!
