He was someone who belonged in my wildest fantasies instead of a rest stop in the middle of Nebraska.
A sexy, cocky, Australian named Chance was the last person I expected to run into on my cross-country drive.
When my car broke down, we made a deal. Next thing I knew, we were traveling together, spending sexually-tense nights in hotels and taking unplanned detours.
My ordinary road trip turned into the adventure of a lifetime. It was all fun and games until things got intense.
I wanted him, but Chance wouldn’t make a move. I thought he wanted me too, but something was holding him back.
I wasn’t supposed to fall for the cocky bastard, especially when I knew we’d be going our separate ways.
All good things must come to an end, right?
Liezel’s Thoughts:
There are so many amazing books that are scheduled to drop this weekend. Because of this reason I wasn’t meaning to write a review for “Cocky Bastard”. I wanted to read this quick and be done with it but after finishing it last night… I can’t seem to move on to another without giving it the praise that it deserves.
“Cocky Bastard” is a beautiful story of fate and at the same time one of second chances. Chance certainly wasn’t out looking for that one woman would change his life. Nor was Aubrey seeking for a rebound either. At the time that they first met a relationship was out of the question and much as they resisted they couldn’t help falling. They were only together that one night yet the passion that they shared was something that changed them both forever.
At first, I couldn’t understand why Chance would give up something that amazing so easily. I began to question his logic and even began to loath him for leaving for all those years. I kept wondering … what could have been that important to be gone so long? The better question was – Will the authors be able to convince me that what he did was legitimate? Did they? Oh yeah, everything about it was justifiable all right.
“I love you, Aubrey. Can’t you see that? I am head over heels in fucking love with you. I love you more than anything in this world. When I look into your eyes, I don’t just see you, I see my children. Hell, I see an entire farm of children and deaf, dumb and blind goats. I see my entire future. Without you, I see nothing. Nothing….”
Once I found out what was that important to Chance I couldn’t help but admire the guy. This wasn’t the only thing I found terrific about him either. I loved how he took full responsibility for his actions. I definitely enjoyed every aspect of his endless pursuit and persuasion. Even if the odds weren’t looking good he never gave up. Aubrey deserved every act of worship that Chance gave her and I thought it was great how she put him through his paces.
I do have to admit that I felt apprehensive with how the authors would go about their second chance (cheating is a big NO for me) but I needed not to worry because that too was done perfectly. I can’t begin to tell you just how relieved I was. Overall, I thought that “Cocky Bastard” was a fantastic second chance romance. One that will definitely make you laugh and even cry and have you swooning multiple times over.
