We are told that God will punish the wicked. That sinful men will reap what they sow. We are told to scourge our souls with prayer and pain to become clean once again.

Well, here I am. Wicked and sinful. Desperate to become clean…even though it feels so good to be dirty.

But even I never expected what came next.

Even I never expected my punishment to come so soon.

***Midnight Mass is a novella and a sequel to Priest. It’s intended for mature audiences only.***

Liezel’s Thoughts:

I  mentioned before that “Priest” was one of my Top 5 Reads in 2015.  So it goes without saying that “Midnight Mass” was  high up on my TBR List for this month. It didn’t matter that it was a novella. I adored this couple so much that even a single chapter  about them would have sufficed.

“Midnight Mass” chronicles Poppy and Tyler’s relationship three years into their marriage. After what they had to go through to be together, you would think that they would be in this constant state of  marital bliss but that isn’t so. Just like any other couple they too have their set of problems and this is what “Midnight Mass” tells us about.

What I loved about the story was how relatable these issues were.  I felt like they were extraordinary in the previous book but in this case, it was as if they were just like you and me – ordinary people. And although this book was just a novella, it didn’t lack in content and in emotion. From the very beginning, I got pulled into their world – where I was able to feel  first hand their frustrations, their pain and, of course, that  immense love.

If you have read and enjoyed “Priest” as much as I did then I am sure that you will appreciate reading more about  this remarkable couple as well. Personally, I can’t get enough  and I am hoping this isn’t the last we hear about them.
