He knows how to score, on and off the ice

Allie Hayes is in crisis mode. With graduation looming, she still doesn’t have the first clue about what she's going to do after college. To make matters worse, she’s nursing a broken heart thanks to the end of her longtime relationship. Wild rebound sex is definitely not the solution to her problems, but gorgeous hockey star Dean Di-Laurentis is impossible to resist. Just once, though, because even if her future is uncertain, it sure as heck won’t include the king of one-night stands.

It’ll take more than flashy moves to win her over

Dean always gets what he wants. Girls, grades, girls, recognition, girls…he’s a ladies man, all right, and he’s yet to meet a woman who’s immune to his charms. Until Allie. For one night, the feisty blonde rocked his entire world—and now she wants to be friends? Nope. It’s not over until he says it’s over. Dean is in full-on pursuit, but when life-rocking changes strike, he starts to wonder if maybe it’s time to stop focusing on scoring…and shoot for love.

Liezel, Angie and Micah’s Joint Review

What do you enjoy most about Elle Kennedy and this series?

Micah: This series is hilarious. Elle Kennedy never disappoints when it comes to the clever quips and quick dialogue. I also enjoy how, so far, the characters have been connected.

Angie: The Off-Campus series are the first books that I read by Elle Kennedy and they won’t be the last. I enjoy the way she brings the characters to life. They are so relatable that I can imagine myself being best friends with some of these girls and sleeping with some of these jocks! They are hands down the best sports series I read!

Liezel: As far as NA romance goes, the Off-Campus series is one of my favorites. That would be because Elle Kennedy puts so much detail into describing their world it’s as if I am in their shoes, experiencing the entire college experience all over again. I also love that the that series is sports related.

What did you think about the Dean/ Allie?

Angie: I thought Dean was an egotistical jerk that I grew to love. He irritated me at first always speaking of “The Dean Experience”, I mean who does that?? But he grew on me like he did Allie and I fell in love with him and “Little Dean”.

I loved Allie from the beginning. She’s such a relatable character that I kept picturing myself in her shoes. She wasn’t annoying and she was so funny! Unlike Liezel I never thought she would get back with her jerk of an ex. I knew she felt bad for the situation but how Sean treated her was confirmation enough to why she shouldn’t take him back. In the end she made the right choice.

Liezel: Dean’s ginormous ego was overwhelming at first but as we got to know him better I found out that it was all part of his charm. He also came off as superficial but things changed after he found something to be passionate about. I saw a whole different side of him towards the end which I thought was endearing.

I thought Allie was great! I loved how laid back she was. Even if she was going through a major break-up she wasn’t overly emotional as expected.
There were a few moments where I worried that she was going to back down on her decision but I’m glad she didn’t because not only was her ex a complete douche but they had nothing in common but the number of years together.

Micah: I didn’t enjoy Dean at first. I thought he was a very unbelievable character. I was in a sorority in college and had many experiences with Frat boys. We didn’t have a hockey team, but we had other athletes. NONE of the frat guys I knew were on Dean’s level of promiscuity. Don’t get me wrong, some of my friends got around. But think about it on a logical level. If Deal slept with even 1-2 women a weekend (maybe more if there are multiples in 1 go) and maybe 1-2 on a slow week (per him) and he never slept with the same girl twice, we are talking about his “number” being in the high hundreds. Over 800, if all he had were slow weeks. Would you sleep with someone who had slept with over 800 women? So, right off the bat, I was skeeved out by him. And Sean? He was 100% right about the STD thing. I would be worried about him having STDs. I am kind of over the “manwhore” male character.

That being said, Elle Kennedy has a way of making you love the unlovable. I liked Dean’s character journey. I really liked him working with the kids and The Hurricane team. That was a great addition to the story.

Allie, however, I loved. She seemed very much like me, apart from the lack of a backbone. I could see me doing all of the things she was doing. I loved how she stood up to Dean and told him no. She had a big heart and I loved that about her. She cared about her dad and she even cared about how her ex was dealing with the break up.

addictive.1

Do you think they paired well? Besides the romance did they fit? Could you see them being together in 5+ years?

Micah: Hmmm, this is interesting. As much as I don’t believe that Dean’s penis simply didn’t “work” because of Allie, I do believe that they fell into some lust. I think it added to some comedic moments of the book. What made me really FEEL them as a couple was him genuinely taking an interest in her interests. I loved that because she loved that French soap opera, Deal gave up a night out to watch it and subsequently got addicted as well, even though they had little idea what was going on! I loved that he “ran” lines with her. That showed that the “manwhore”, selfish mentality he had was fading. When he comes into his own with working with the kids and finding his true passions in life, I do think they stand a chance years down the road.

Liezel: With Dean’s manwhore-ish ways it was difficult picturing him with anyone period. After that 1 time with Allie though… he certainly “Imprinted” on her as Beau mentioned. I loved how Elle paid homage to “Twilight” by the way!

Allie brought out the best in Dean and I thought it was great seeing how their relationship slowly developed. With Allie by his side serving as an inspiration I can definiely see them still going strong 5 years down the road.

Angie: At first I would say no because like Liezel said Dean was a Manwhore and Allie was way too sweet for him. But like they say opposites attract and he needed someone like Allie to tame his wild ways. As their relationship progresses I can see them being together until they are old and grey probably still tying each other up in bed. Lol.

Was the romance hot enough for you?

Angie: Hell yes!! Allie was the one that really shown in this book! Wow! A meek, quiet girl is such a wild woman in bed!

Liezel: The chemistry between the two was unquestionably magnificent! I loved that Allie was just as sexual if not more than Dean.

Micah: Yes! I think there was a nice balance between sex and content as well. I really hate when books are laden with sex scenes, but I love when they accent the romance. And I really felt like this book was a shining example of that. And you’re right Angie and Liezel, Allie was a wild woman!

How was the story flow? Story in general?

Liezel: Just like the first two books, I thought story was remarkable because of its depth. It wasn’t just about a romance, rather it also contained real life issues such as commitment, making life changing career decisions, dealing with death and accepting change.

Angie: I agree with Liezel on this! I even loved this book more than the first two. The banter between Allie and Dean was hysterical and kept me laughing all the way through the book. Omg! Winston! I think he was the true star of this book!

Micah: I am going to disagree. I think the first one was my favorite, but that doesn’t make me love this one less. I really like this series. WINSTON!! HAHA That was one of the best parts.

  Would you recommend this book?

Liezel: If you enjoy New Adult Romance with a strong sports theme that involve a perfectly matched couple then hell yes I would recommend this one! I personally am hooked and can not wait to see who among the friends is being featured next.

Micah: I would recommend this book if 1. you loved The Deal and The Mistake 2. you love hockey books and 3. you like college romances with some comedy. I loved this and cannot wait for the next book. It looks like it will be Tucker’s!

I DO wish the whole manwhore troupe would stop. Or SUPER manwhore. You can be experienced without being disgusting. My logical brain won’t let me just think “Oh ok, he’s a slutty.” It makes me count the numbers.

Angie: If you want a book you can laugh out loud but also get turned onto than you have to read this! It was phenomenal and I can’t wait to see who Elle writes about next!
