Lake Jones is a cover girl for cutting-edge prosthetic legs, a binge-watcher of Netflix, known to spy on her neighbor through her door’s peephole, and fond of laser games with her hairless cat. She’s also a bit sexually-frustrated.

Until …

God bestows a breath of mercy upon her in the form of Minnesota’s NFL starting quarterback. But this gift is no stranger. Lake met Cage Monaghan three years earlier.

It was one day.
One moment.
One kiss that resurrected her dreams of finding love.

His dimpled smile distracts from his imperfections, which include: a love for country music, fishing, and a feline-hating girlfriend.

When life finally gives them their chance, it’s a humorous and heart-wrenching journey to find their place in the world.

"We would be Cage and Lake. We would be unpredictable. We would be reckless. We would give normality the middle finger.”

Angie’s Thoughts:

First I was ecstatic when I saw that Lake and Cage were getting their own book. Second I never expected to fall completely head over heels in love with them.

If you’ve read Jewel’s Jack and Jill series then you have been introduced to Cage and Lake. If not don’t worry you can read this as a standalone but it does contain spoilers from Dawn of Forever. I loved seeing glimpses of Jessica and Luke. How happy they are. It answered all lingering questions I had for them. It’s bittersweet. Much like One.

Lake was in a really bad car wreck where she lost her leg and boyfriend Ben. One is about her life after her loss. How she reconnects with someone who made her feel alive again and appreciates life. One isn’t a story of loss but love found. The struggle it takes to keep that love. It’s also a story of a woman who lost so much just to find that she’s much stronger than she ever was. Lakes motto in life is I’m beautiful. I’m loved. I’ll be happy. We all could learn from her.

Lake is the epitome of everything you want your daughter to look up to. She’s strong, she’s independent, she’s fierce, she owns her body and doesn’t take any bs from anyone. She’s also caring, kind, nurturing, beautiful and flawless in my eyes and Cage’s as well. She moved to Minnesota to start fresh. A life where no one knew her. The last thing she expected was to run into the one guy who changed everything for her in one day.

“One day. One kiss. One moment. One unforgettable memory.”

Cage is the hot football player that everyone wants. But he only has eyes for one woman. His Lake. He’s every women’s wet dream. Their perfect book boyfriend and real life husband. He’s so swoon-worthy! I love him and I’m feeling melancholy now since I finished One.

“I love you, Lake. I love you in a way that makes me uncertain of everything in my life but you. I love you in a way that makes me want nothing but you.”

Lake and Cage’s relationship is almost perfect but it’s not and this is why I love Jewel E Ann. Their relationship is relatable. They have their ups and downs. That’s what makes a great book. Everything is not always perfect.

I felt every emotion. Every tear. Every heartbreak. Every laughter. Every. Single. Thing. I cried. I laughed. My heart hurt for Lake and Cage and then it rejoiced for them. I was pissed off for them and at times at them. Then Jewel would make it better again.

If there’s one book you read this year then put One at the beginning of your TBR. It’s sweet, funny, romantic, hot and leaves you with a satisfying feeling that you truly read a really great book. Jewel E. Ann never ceases to amaze me but One is her best work by far!

About Jewel E. Ann

Jewel is a free-spirited romance junkie with a quirky sense of humor.
With 10 years of flossing lectures under her belt, she took early retirement from her dental hygiene career to stay home with her three awesome boys and manage the family business.
After her best friend of nearly 30 years suggested a few books from the Contemporary Romance genre, Jewel was hooked. Devouring two and three books a week but still craving more, she decided to practice sustainable reading, AKA writing.
When she’s not donning her cape and saving the planet one tree at a time, she enjoys yoga with friends, good food with family, rock climbing with her kids, watching How I Met Your Mother reruns, and of course…heart-wrenching, tear-jerking, panty-scorching novels.
