A bookish friend recently asked us to name some of our ultimate book boyfriends… I didn’t even have to think about this one. I immediately responded – Jake Sharp. This alpha male is all kinds of swoony! He can definitely come “protect”me any day!
At first, Jake was extremely difficult to decipher but once his walls came down, OMG! You won’t be able to help yourself from falling for this enigmatic character. For years, his life revolved around working, drinking, and meaningless sex. What had me so captivated (besides the heady romance) was his troubled past. I just had to know what was so damaging for him to act this way.
I also needed to know if he would be able to find his much-deserved HEA. Enter…. Camille Logan. Camille was so NOT what I expected. She was the complete opposite and I absolutely loved that about her. I understood why Jake would fall for someone like Camille. And while a few may argue that they fell too fast…
“…You’ve found me, despite the fact that I never wanted to be found. You’re the missing piece I wasn’t looking for , angel. And now I’m scared of being incomplete again. I’m scared of being without you.”
I tell you this, the way Jodi Ellen Malpas described their deep and profound emotions will have you thinking anything but. Without a doubt, Camille was destined for Jake and vice versa. It’s not without saying that their relationship was too easy as you would think…
They had numerous obstacles, so many people going against them which was another thing I appreciated about this book. The angst, the tension, the anticipation. They way that it kept me guessing! From the very first chapter until the very last, I hung on every single word!
I can’t tell you enough how much I loved everything about The Protector. I seriously did not want this book to end. Hopefully, we will hear about this amazing couple even if it’s just a little snippet here and there. Novella perhaps? There were a few notable characters so maybe a book 2? Spin-off? I would be satisfied with anything at this point.
