Angie’s Thoughts:
On Saturday, November 5, 2016, the Rebels and Readers Author Event was graced by my cheerful presence! Unbeknownst to them there was an unidentifiable blogger amongst them watching their every move. What I found was both alarming and much different than the last signing I went to.
Instead of disorganization, I found none. I found room to walk amongst peers. To chat with all the authors about their books freely without fear of being trampled by the masses of fangirls waiting to see J. Lynn or B.T. Urruela or even the insanely hot models (hello Jase Dean, Lance Jones, Styx, Jonny James and Wander) yes I’m talking about you! There were more but those are the ones I had the pleasure of not groping. 😉
I have seen authors and readers smiling. Fans happy to be there. Not upset because it was overcrowded and you couldn’t fit down the aisles with your carts upon carts of books. You didn’t feel rushed when you met an author you’ve been a big fan of forever or even just heard of them. Shoutout to you Stylo Fantome and L.B. Dunbar!
It was only my second biggest event I’ve ever been to but it was by far the best time I have ever had! The host were gracious. The authors were extremely nice even if you awkwardly looked at them and admitted you never read their books. They patiently told you what each of their books were about and if new fans showed up they repeated themselves without any aggravation in their voices.
The space itself, like I mentioned above, was definitely enough room to comfortably accommodate the authors, their models, and all the fans. The parking was convenient as it was just across the street and only cost me $1!! The only small thing I had a problem with was a model had his friend/girlfriend and her friends constantly hanging around in front of his table and it made it extremely hard to get to him to sign my books. This wasn’t Tonya or Amy’s fault. I do not blame them at all. Other than that little mishap, it went extremely smooth.
I met a long time friend and made some new friends. But more importantly, I have memories that will last a lifetime. A huge thank you to Tonya Nagle and Amy McGlone for such a great event!
The Verdict:
Couldn’t quite make the event?
