He's not perfect, but he's all I want...
I’m your average girl at your average high school, trying to figure out my place in life. After catching my now ex-boyfriend messing around with my now ex-best friend, I’ve made some big changes. No more band, no more backstabbing friends and no more boring old life. Now I have new friends, a new job and new interests.
But there’s a certain someone who’s interested in me, and I don’t get it. Jordan Tuttle could have anyone he wants. He’s the most popular boy in school. Rich, gorgeous, smart and the star quarterback, he’s perfect. Yet he acts like he wants no one else but…me.
So despite my fears and doubt, I let him get close. Probably too close. I discover that he’s not so perfect after all, but it doesn’t matter. I’m falling for him, even though he runs so hot and cold. I know someday he’s going to break my heart.
And I’m going to let him.
Angie’s Thoughts:
Another great book by the amazing Monica Murphy! This is the second book in the Friends Series and it did not disappoint!
More than Friends is about Amanda’s journey to finding love. The boy that was so perfect that she thought she was dreaming when she was with him and questioned herself when she had him. Tuttle is perfect in every way. At least that’s what you would think. But this boy has issues.
It’s easy to forget that you are reading a book about high school kids. You get so caught up in their life, their everyday drama that it makes you feel like you are one of them or you are them. Several times I had to stop reading because I became extremely upset with Amanda’s actions. Then I would remind myself “She’s in high school and you would react that way too.” I was so caught up in her character that I felt her anger, her pain, her every emotion pouring through the pages. I was no longer a stay at home mom. I was not Angie anymore but Amanda.
That’s what makes Monica’s writing stand out. The depth of her characters and the details in her books lets you escape for awhile. The reality that is life. More Than Friends is so beautifully written. Once you’re done reading you feel a loss for Mandy, Jordan, Livvy, Ryan and even Em. You want more and more that I believe we could have Monica writing about these characters for years to come.
