I first met William McAlister when I was just a teenager.

He was handsome, had a beautiful wife and was on the verge of success, having just joined my father as his business partner. Mr. McAlister was full of smooth charm, but back then he was barely a blip on my radar. Just a family friend.

Fast forward ten years: I’m 25 years old and a single mom trying to make things right for her seven-year old son. I’ve made some mistakes, grappled with my demons and now I’m back in the city of Vancouver, getting a second chance at a better life.

I’ve started by working for my father’s production company as an executive assistant. My first day on the job and I already know I could have a promising career there.
That is until I see Will McAlister for the first time in a decade.

Now recently divorced and as sophisticated as always, Will has gone from being my father’s friend and business partner to something so much more.

We’re both older, for one thing, and he just oozes this worldly confidence and stark sexuality. Combined with his tall, muscular build and sharp suits, strong jaw and bedroom eyes, Will has turned into one hell of a distraction.

A distraction I’m having a hard time staying away from, considering his office is right across from my desk and I work with him in such close proximity.

But it’s just a harmless crush, right?

It’s just an innocent fantasy of screwing him on his desk, right?

It can’t ever be more because he’s my father’s best friend, business partner, and my boss.

Right?

Wrong.

Angie’s Thoughts:

Before I Ever Met You is a book about finding love after heartbreak and abuse. It’s about getting a redo. A chance to make things right with someone new. A love stronger than anything you have ever experienced.

I love Will. He’s such a strong hero in this story. Easy to love and easier to cry for. He’s been through so much that you would think his heart would be encased in ice but Jackie changed everything for him.

I wish I could say I love Jackie but I can’t. I liked her a lot when she wasn’t constantly pushing Will away or being extremely stubborn. Sometimes stubbornness can be cute but too much can be annoying and she annoyed the hell out of me. Now I can completely relate to her on being abused and not trusting men. I understood that. Just sometimes you have to let others help you.

Karina Halle did an excellent job at tackling some very sensitive subjects in this book. Her writing is phenomenal. I can’t wait to read what’s next!

The Verdict:

Liezel’s Thoughts:

Before I Met You is about a young mom named Jackie who is trying to get her bearings back after ending a long abusive relationship. Despite her hardship, it was kismet, as if these things were meant for her to find her HEA with Will. And as much as she deserved it, Will did too.

It wasn’t just the fantastic romance between the couple that made me love this book. I love that it was insightful too. The author tackled so many sensitive subjects delicately which resulted in delivering such a powerful message. These passages certainly made their mark…

When you find what makes your heart beat, your soul sing, then you hang on to it…

Or, more so, this….

….sometimes life throws us a curve ball. It doesn’t go the way we planned. All that matters is how we handle it and the person we become on the other side.

I loved everything about this book -the characters and their passion, the smooth story flow, the light humor, and the playfulness. I love that it was inspiring. As always the writing was superb. I wouldn’t expect anything less.

Ready to fall in love over and over again? Then grab this terrific new contemporary romance by Karina Halle. Before I Ever Met You is definitely one of those books that will leave you giddy and have you feeling the warm and fuzzies on the inside.
