One special summer.
The one thing Bliss had lost herself in when the fear and sickness were too much, moments never to be damaged by the harsh reality that followed… until now.
Bliss York didn’t live a normal teenage life. She didn’t go to Friday night football games, walk the halls with her friends every day, go to her prom or even walk to receive her diploma. It had all been taken from her the fall that she was fifteen years old and she was given the diagnosis no one ever wants to hear.
She had leukemia.
Seven years after spending a summer with a girl who he knew would always be his first love and the one who got away, Nate Finlay returns to Sea Breeze to help his fiancé open her new boutique clothing store. When the new employee walks in Nate is taken back seven years to the girl he thought he’d love forever. The one who never answered his calls or returned his text. The one who shut him out completely with not even a goodbye and broke his heart.
They’ve each become someone different. No longer the young teens with stars in their eyes. But does that matter when your heart still says that’s the one.
I am one of those readers that have issues keeping track of characters when too many of them are introduced early on in the story BUT this one of those books that was an exception to that rule. As a matter of fact, figuring out the “who is who” added to the overall enjoyment of this story.
I know it was mentioned that you do not need to be familiar with the Sea Breeze or Rosemary Beach characters but seriously each one of these books are great that I would suggest that you read ALL of them. What I love about it is that it brings back those memories of falling in love for that very first time.
Bliss York fell in love with Nate Finlay for the first time years ago when he spent the summer in Sea Breeze but when the season ended so did their communication. Nate attempted to stay in contact with Bliss but she was going through serious health issues that were preventing her to reciprocate. Seven years later and they meet again but Nate is engaged to Bliss’ boss.
At first, I felt a bit anxious how this would turn out. Cheating is one of those subject matters that I rarely enjoy reading about BUT I was worried for nothing. Abbi Glines manipulated their story perfectly.
My only issue was it seemed to have ended abruptly. What can I say? I loved this couple so much that I didn’t want their story to end. Hopefully, we get to see them again further in the series.
