A pack Alpha and his estranged, true mate wrestle with painful secrets, ruthless enemies, and their own irresistible attraction, in the sexy third book of the Phoenix Pack series.

Half-shifter Shaya Critchley may hold a submissive role in her pack, but she’s done taking orders. After her Alpha wolf mate refused to claim her—but committed to interfering in her life—she took off. Now she hides from him, posing as a human in a town full of anti-shifter extremist groups. She thinks he’ll never find her again, and that suits her just fine. But she’s wrong.

Nick Axton can barely control his feelings for Shaya, but he could never claim her—not if he truly cares for her. The degenerative brain condition he keeps secret would ultimately leave her with a burden rather than a mate. But when Shaya runs away, Nick can’t bear the thought of never seeing her again. After tracking her down, he discovers Shaya’s feisty and passionate side in the process…a side he’d never seen before.

Under the menacing gazes of territorial local packs and violent human extremists, Nick vows to finally claim the spirited Shaya…and despite her initial resistance, Shaya just might find his fiery determination to be the ultimate aphrodisiac.

Liezel’s Thoughts:

After I finished the first book – Feral Sins I’ve become completely obsessed to the point where I do my daily chores listening to the series, I drive to work listening to the series, I go to bed reading the series. For me, as the series progresses it keeps getting better and better. This is because the relationships not only between the couples but also between the different packs continue evolving especially in this book.

Carnal Secrets features Nick and Shaya. Nick Axton has always known all along that  Shaya Critchley of the Phoenix Pask was his mate but being his stubborn self he refuses to claim her. Feeling repeatedly rejected, Shaya does the one thing that could possibly save her from all the pain and insanity, she leaves Nick and her pack behind. What does Nick do when she leaves…something monumental!

With all the pain Nick caused Shaya I wanted her to put him through his paces and she certainly does so and then some. I appreciated every single thing he did to prove just how important she was to him. What kept me so engrossed was discovering why he kept on refusing her in the first place and again his reasoning is surprising.

As a matter of fact, there are multiple components that were astonishing. There truly was never really a boring moment. Surprisingly, I even loved how Suzanne Wright added the political aspect that she added into the mix. It added so much more depth and I can not wait to see how far she takes this aspect of the story.  If you are looking for a highly addictive shifter romance series I would definitely recommend giving The Phoenix Pack Series a try.

The Verdict:
