“Because I came from you, does that mean I’m capable of killing? That I’ll be addicted to blood? That I’ll get off on torturing people?”

The kid had questions.
I didn’t blame him.
He’d only heard one side, and it wasn’t mine.

“Why did you hate my mother?”

Now, that was a story worth telling.
But, to do that, I had to bring the kid back to the very beginning.
When the killing and the blood and the torture had all started.
When I was truly happy.
When I was first called a Monster.

Monster is a follow-up to Animal. Animal must be read first.

 Liezel’s Thoughts:

Holy Crap! I can’t even begin to tell you just how great the Animal Series ended. As I am sitting her processing everything,  I can’t help but be in this state of wonderment with how  Marni Mann’s creative mind works.

Monster was a tad difficult for me to get into at first given the new characters were introduced right off the bat but as I delved further into their lives and things started coming together it was all uphill from there.

All throughout the book, I felt like I was reading a story within a story. The complexity of the characters gave it so much more depth.  Figuring out the who-is-who was literally like solving a huge jigsaw puzzle … So many complicated and confusing parts but once it was all put together – it was magnificent.

If you asked me to describe the story in 3 words … I would say… a complete mindfuck.  If you appreciate dark, depraved, raw and intense romances then don’t pass up on this book. For me, it is one of those that will be difficult to knock off my “favorite dark romance” list for a while.

 The Verdict:
