Liezel’s Thoughts:
I was looking for a good laugh and I found the laughing out loud great one in Kim Jones’ “That Guy”. The story is a chance romance between an out of control heroine named Penelope and very unsuspected gazillionaire Jake Swagger.
From the very first chapter, I was chuckling like a maniac. The absurdity of Penelope’s antics is some of the funniest segments I’ve ever read in a book. I adored her wit and her sarcasm, her “I don’t give a shit” attitude. This woman had the balls of steel but a heart of gold.
Jake, on the other hand, was the epitome of a complete asshole but once Penelope got a hold of his 16 oz … he did a complete 180. I loved seeing how a man with such a ginormous ego is reduced to basically nothing.
Reading this book while perusing the grocery aisles wasn’t my best idea. I am pretty sure everyone around me thought I was batshit crazy but do I care? NO! I deserved all those laughs.
