Like an avenging, purple-haired Jedi bringing balance to the mansplained universe, Bee Königswasser lives by a simple code: What would Marie Curie do? If NASA offered her the lead on a neuroengineering project—a literal dream come true after years scraping by on the crumbs of academia—Marie would accept without hesitation. Duh. But the mother of modern physics never had to co-lead with Levi Ward.

Sure, Levi is attractive in a tall, dark, and piercing-eyes kind of way. And sure, he caught her in his powerfully corded arms like a romance novel hero when she accidentally damseled in distress on her first day in the lab. But Levi made his feelings toward Bee very clear in grad school—archenemies work best employed in their own galaxies far, far away.

Now, her equipment is missing, the staff is ignoring her, and Bee finds her floundering career in somewhat of a pickle. Perhaps it’s her occipital cortex playing tricks on her, but Bee could swear she can see Levi softening into an ally, backing her plays, seconding her ideas…devouring her with those eyes. And the possibilities have all her neurons firing. But when it comes time to actually make a move and put her heart on the line, there’s only one question that matters: What will Bee Königswasser do?

Liezel’s Thoughts:

From dusk until dawn- this is how long I sat and devoured this magnificent story. Seriously, I couldn’t put it down! I was utterly engrossed from chapter two.

At first, I couldn’t fully comprehend what a scientist like Marie Curie would be doing in a romance book. Kudos to the authors for having the ability to intertwine such a historical figure into a love story.

There were so many components that I loved in this story. Of course, there was a passionate romance between the two scientists. It took a while to figure out why Levi had his reservations for Bee, but I fell more in love with Levi once I figured it out. These two were, in every way – the perfect fit.

Other things I enjoyed about the book was the love story within the love story, the #girlpower, the science, the mystery, and even that touch of suspense. The authors certainly kept me guessing until the very end.

If you think The Love Hypothesis was great, wait until you get your hands on this book. Remember to warn your family and friends that you will be missing for a few hours/days since you will be completely preoccupied with everything Levi and Bee.

The Verdict:

ABOUT ALI HAZELWOOD
My favorite thing in the world is to explore traditional romance tropes—and to picture how they’ll play out in academic settings.
Rival scientists falling in love despite their better judgement?
There’s only one cot in the lab?
Fake dating during faculty meeting?

I’m originally from Italy, lived in Japan and Germany, and eventually moved to the US to pursue a Ph.D. in Neuroscience. I recently became a professor, which absolutely terrifies me. Oh, the sheer dread of being entrusted with the care of young minds!
When I’m not at work you can find me binge-watching shows with my feline overlords (and my slightly less feline husband), running, or eating candy.
Oh, and I’m a New York Times Bestselling Author.
