At twenty-two years old, aspiring musician Sydney Blake has a great life: She’s in college, working a steady job, in love with her wonderful boyfriend, Hunter, and rooming with her good friend, Tori. But everything changes when she discovers Hunter cheating on her with Tori—and she is left trying to decide what to do next.

Sydney becomes captivated by her mysterious neighbor, Ridge Lawson. She can’t take her eyes off him or stop listening to the daily guitar playing he does out on his balcony. She can feel the harmony and vibrations in his music. And there’s something about Sydney that Ridge can’t ignore, either: He seems to have finally found his muse. When their inevitable encounter happens, they soon find themselves needing each other in more ways than one…

Liezel’s Thoughts:

There was a reason why I was putting off reading this book. I knew that  like any other story written by Colleen Hoover it was bound to leave me so affected up to the point where it would take days to move on to the next book. Yes, it rarely happens  but  after reading  “Maybe Someday”….I am undeniably book hung over.

You can’t blame me for feeling this way. One of my all time pet peeves has always been infidelity  but for some reason the way that this story was written – cheating was somehow made justifiable. How is that even possible? Amazing writing is how!

As the story goes,  Sidney’s finds out that Hunter – her boyfriend  of many years has been  cheating on her with her very  best friend, Tori. Without a plan, she  decides right there and then to leave him. With nowhere else to go she is taken in my her  neighbor -Ridge. Ridge and Sydney have   this weird relationship for weeks. Although they have not physically met they have been working together  composing music. When they do finally meet you can sense this unmistakable chemistry between them.

Everything would have been perfect except for the fact that Ridge is already tied to someone else. To make matters  worse is that Maggie (Ridge’s girlfriend) is a total angel. She can literally do no wrong. As long as they are in each others presence,  Ridge and Maggie show that they are utterly in love.

When Maggie is absent,  Sidney and Ridge too demonstrate this soul deep connection that makes you question the likelihood of  possibly loving two people at the same time. For me this is one of the major reasons why I feel in love with this book… it made me question my own convictions.

“I wanted your  heart more than I’ve ever wanted anything. The second I reached down and held your hand in mine, it happened. My heart made its choice, and it chose you.”

The emotions that were poured throughout this story was very much heart aching.  The intense yearning between Ridge and Syndey was outright moving. I definitely can not compare it to anything else that I’ve read as of late.

Another thing about this book that made it exceptional  was the characters. Every single one of the major players was depicted excellently. And as much as I loved the thought of Ridge and Sidney together, Maggie’s character  stood out the most and with that being said she had me feeling very much torn. Which leads me to the only thing that I disliked about this book… I regret not knowing what became of her after all was said and done. (P.S. Maggie’s Epilogue does exist…but I need MORE!)

Otherwise, I thought this story was perfection and it will definitely be added to my short list of “Best Reads of 2014.”
