The real hero of this story is dead. You should have met him. He was a beautiful man. The love of my life. I didn’t deserve him.

Now what’s left are the jagged edges of the person I am without him, and what I have to do to get by. This isn’t even a story about love. Not really. It’s a twisted tale of revenge and hate—a happily never after.

The only man in my life now is the one I have to kill.

I’m Savvy Raine.

I used to be a wife.

I used to be a mother.

Now I am the Revenger.

Liezel’s Thoughts:

“The Revenger” is about a woman named Savannah Raine whose  entire world falls apart after a fatal accident. To say that  Savvy isn’t coping well after the incident would be an understatement. She takes her mourning to the very extreme.

And at first, it was difficult to gauge her motives as to why she  became a  vigilante. Was it out of boredom? Did she finally crack? Was she just out seeking  justice?  Whatever it was  you could tell that she didn’t care if she made  it back home dead or alive. I think this was one of the reasons why  the men were falling at her feet wanting to save her.

The crazy thing about these guys was even if they were on opposites sides of the spectrum (one man being this pure evil mob boss and the other an extraordinary lackey) I couldn’t pick or choose who I wanted the heroine to end up with. Each was impressionable to me. They both possessed remarkable qualities  had  something different to offer.

The characters weren’t the only thing that I found fantastic about the story… I also appreciate the pacing, and the descriptive  and the complex story line. The only issue I had was  how it all ended. I enjoyed every minute of it so much that I felt like I needed more.

Debra Anastasia’s sheer talent never seizes to amaze me. It doesn’t seem to matter whether it be a romance such as “Poughkeepsie” or straight-up comedy like “Fire Down Below” or something I can’t even categorize (such as this book)… whatever she writes  is always something spectacular.

Excerpt:

There was very little chatter after the alarming phone call. Savvy looked at the clock. It was only five, but the extra help Tallow had enlisted acted like she was about to disintegrate. When they were finally done, they hung Savvy’s costume from a door, fully expecting her to drop trou in front of all the strangers.

She looked at the silver outfit meant to demean her and classify her as his, just like all his other favorites.

“Yeah, I’m not actually going to be wearing that.” She looked from one shocked person to the other.

Tallow recovered first. “But this is what he told you to wear!”

Savvy laughed hollowly. “Yeah, he can suck his own d*ck for all I care.”

The atmosphere changed. The others now realized Savvy didn’t think it was a huge honor to be a f*ckhole.

“That’s not acceptable. I’ll put you in it myself if I have to, but you’re leaving here in that outfit.” Tallow bravely gathered up the skirt and came into Savvy’s personal space. He obviously thought she was just a regular girl.

In an instant she’d lifted Tallow into the air by his neck. “I’m not wearing it.” She stared him down until he began to turn blue. Then she set him back on his feet.

Tallow was a quick learner and smoothed his fancy shirt. “Okay then, let me see what else we have.”

About Debra Anastasia

Debra Anastasia is busy, just like every other mom. There’s dinner, the dogs, the kids, and their homework. The laundry pile turns into a big, heaping monster. When the clothes finally make it into the washer, it gets unbalanced and puts on an elaborate show before it cuts out. This crazy job that never ends is her first love and her crowning achievement.

Her writing started a decent handful of years ago when along with the dogs, cat, kids, and husband, the voices of characters started whispering stories in Debra’s ear. Insomnia was the gateway for the plots that wouldn’t give up, wouldn’t let go. In the shower, a twist would take hold and–dripping and frenzied–she’d find somewhere, anywhere to write it down.

Debra grew up in New York and got a bachelor’s degree in political science at SUNY New Paltz. At the start of her marriage, she moved to southern Maryland with her husband. She still doesn’t trust crabs and all their legs, though everyone else in her family thinks they’re delicious. Her favorite hobbies include knitting, painting furniture and wall murals, and slapping clowns.
