Nadia Jayne’s world is full of villains.

Kasper thinks he hates her.
Donovan thinks he loves her.
Logan thinks he owns her.

Sweet Jayne is a complicated girl…

She needs Kasper.
She hides from Donovan.
She has a plan for Logan.

But maybe complicated Jayne isn’t so sweet after all…
In fact, she might just be the biggest villain of them all.

Discussion Review by Micah & Angie:

Micah: Ok first. Wow. Now that I have finished, I’m going to need a day or two to read nothing.
Angie:It was extremely heavy and someone who doesn’t read books this heavy would need some time. But me, Kristi I need your next book soon! Lol.
Liezel: All of your comments makes me want to read it more!
Micah: Let’s talk about this story because I am DYING. Ok, Let’s break this story up into parts, no spoilers…First 1/3. What did you think of the Donovan (stepfather) Jayne (stepdaughter/heroine) relationship then?
Angie: I found it extremely creepy. I thought he was a pervert who needed to have his dick cut off. I mean who looks at their 17 yr old stepdaughter with lust in their eyes? A creepy pervert that’s who!
Micah: Oh my gosh, me too! All he did was leer and make suggestive comments. And then the wanting to hug her for lunch money? Gross. She’s 17
Angie: Exactly! 17 and he was in his 30’s? It was disturbing!
Micah: I feel like it was an element of the story to throw us off balance.
Angie: I think so too but a very important element
Micah: We already have a story with kidnapping, has some fairly severe punishing sex scenes, why not add a creepy incest element?

Angie: Because that my dear is what Kristi is known at best to do. Throwing in elements that you wouldn’t expect and make you cringe. That is what makes her writing exceptional in my eyes.
Micah: Yes. Cringing is what I did. And also messaging her to ask what a sex guillotine is.
Angie: Ha! That is priceless!
Micah: Seriously! I couldn’t even find it on google!
Angie: Then googling an anal hook!
Micah: I did. I did also google that. Thank you, Kristi Webster, for such an education

Angie: You learned new things today. Lol. Anything else about the first 1/3?
Micah: I just feel unsettled. Unclean.
Micah: The second 2/3 made me angry. You know this. But I felt like this is where the story opened up
Angie: I joined her Sweet Jayne discussion group to help me get through it
Micah: Even though it made me angry, this is the meat of the story. Not the great revelation of 80% (ahhhhhhhh), but just anger. All of it I need a support group
Angie: Yep and it left me upset too. I had so many questions. So. Many.
Micah: Probably 50 questions
and theories
and even though I figured out the major one
I really DIDN’T
like…this story, man
Angie:I don’t know how many theories I had and they turned out wrong
Micah: We can’t even COMMENT on them because I don’t want to ruin it for one person
Angie: No it’s truly fucked up
Micah: I waffle between rating it 3 stars or rating it 5 because it was magnificent but I also hated the way it made me feel.
Angie: No we can’t. Just remember anal hook and sex guillotine.
Micah: I am rating it a 5. No book that affected me that much can be a 3. But, geez….wtf book. Here is my statement….Sweet Jayne, what the actual fuck. Overall, it was a 5, but Sweet Jayne, what the actual fuck
Angie: LOL The writing is phenomenal and even though it had a lot of cringe-worthy moments it was so worth it
Micah:Writing is phenomenal, world building is great, Characters are…well, they are. I have my personal feelings about them
Angie: I loved the characters. I hated some and even had compassion at the end for Logan. What did you think of the last 20%? It freaking blew my mind. Really, at the 80% mark
Micah: well, I knew the one big thing and Nadia had clued us into some of the other things, but WOW. The BIG 80% mark is so huge. You feel like there are big moments in the book, but that sets the mark. But all of the other big twists? Wow. I was reading so fast just to get it all. It was mind-blowing, yes
Angie: Me too! It was something that I definitely wasn’t expecting. I wouldn’t want anything to be different. It was something unexpected and a twist we didn’t see coming.
Micah: I will say that all of the cringe-worthy moments, all of those moments I was so mad I wanted to throw my kindle-that 80% point was worth them all
Angie: Yes it was! I agree!
Micah: It was masterful. So many lines weaving through the story all converging to meet at that point? Like, storygasm
Angie: SO, what would you rate it and why?
Micah: I would also rate it a 5, but that is because I had a war of emotions inside of me. I think that takes superior writing. Let’s set aside the amazing roller coaster ride this book takes you on and the twists you end up unwinding, if I feel like I am unsettled after reading a book and it stays with me, its a great book. I am upset about the character’s choices (some WAY more than others) and I know this book will stay with me for a while
Angie:That’s what I love about her writing. She can take you on a wild story with twist and turns and then throw in something that you would least expect. I would rate it a 5 not only for the writing which is exceptional but for the skill it takes to completely fuck up your mind. I mean Kristi had me feeling bad for someone I shouldn’t feel bad for. That’s fucked up.

The Verdict:

rating-5
