Being the only woman working for a professional baseball team isn’t easy. As the San Diego Shock’s newest athletic trainer, Allie knows all about long hours, endless travel, and warding off players’ advances. Given she’s already the subject of a handful of rumors about how “lucky” she was to have earned such a coveted position, she can’t so much as flutter an eyelash a player’s way if she wants to be taken seriously.

But number eleven is doing more than fluttering eyelashes Allie’s way. Far more. Luke Archer is at the top of his game and doesn’t let the fear of striking out keep him from swinging. This is a motto he applies both on and off the field, but Allie appears immune, seeming to view Luke as nothing more than caution tape on legs.

He’s a player, and in Allie’s experience, they’re all the same. She won’t risk her job or her heart to another one, no matter how different this one claims to be. But as Allie gets to know him, she discovers the number eleven the public thinks they know is very different from the real Luke Archer. He seems too good to be true.

And maybe he is.

Allie will have to confront the stories attached to a player of Luke Archer’s stature and decide who she’ll put her faith in—The man she’s falling for? Or the rumors?

Q&A by Micah, Liezel & Angie

What is your favorite quote in Stealing Home?

Micah:One Kiss. One minute. I knew that if I let Luke Archer past my walls, he would consume me. I never would have guessed it could happen so quickly. So completely. One taste. One touch. And he owned me.”

I LOVE this quote. 1. Because it was so true about them and 2. I often feel that way about people, in general. That when they get past my walls, they might burn all of my villages. But, if I met Luke Archer….I’d let him do anything he wanted to my villages…

Liezel: Besides the quote that Micah mentioned, this is another one of my favs

“I respect you as a trainer and a human being. And, most of all, I am attracted to you in a way that makes it hard to breathe when we’re close. I want you in a way that makes rolling into bed every night without fantasizing about crawling over your body impossible…I can’t promise you forever, I can’t promise any length of time actually, but I can promise honesty and commitment…”

I love how he conveyed his feeling for Allie early on. And that mentioned that what he felt for her wasn’t just a physical attraction but something deeper.

Angie: I love the above quotes! This is kinda like Liezel’s quote just a little different.

“I can’t promised you romance and forever anymore than you can promise me the same. This life, it doesn’t leave much room for anything but baseball, but I can promise you my free time when I get it. My attention when it’s mine to give to something other than the game. My loyalty and devotion.”

I love how Logan didn’t give up and kept pursuing Allie. It just shows how invested he is in their potential relationship. It’s nice to have a guy lay it all out there for you.

Did you like the story? How did the story flow in your opinion?

Micah: I loved how the story flowed. The characters and the story sizzled from the first few pages of the book and just reeled you in. I didn’t want to put it down, but I also wanted to put it down to just make the story last longer. The need to absorb the story won out in the end and I gobbled it down in one sitting. I felt the romance took a very natural progression. The added element of the stress of being co-workers made me anxious. I just loved this book.

Liezel: I completely agree with Micah. This is one of those books where you need to allot a specific amount of time for…in the sense that once you start, you CAN. NOT. STOP…..I say this because of LUKE, this guy is so swoony.

Angie: I completely agree with Micah and Liezel! I had a bad book hangover from a previous book and Stealing Home helped me get over it. That alone should tell you how great this book is! Once I picked it up and started to actually concentrate on it, I couldn’t put it down. The story was so good that you can’t put it down until you read every last word and then you want to savor those last moments to make them last longer.

Were the characters relatable? Did you like them?

Micah: I feel like there were elements of both of them I could relate to. I have been wronged in relationships before and I understood the hurt in both of them. I LOVED both of these characters. I liked Allie. She seemed like the normal every, day girl, but with added elements of loving baseball and sports medicine. And Luke Archer? God, what can you say about him? He’s a near perfect book boyfriend and he makes my top 5 list, for sure.

Liezel: In one way or another I felt like I could relate with both of the characters. This is one of the things that I enjoyed about the book. They felt real. With Allie, I could identify with her dedication and commitment in her chosen career. I appreciated that even if she felt pressured at times that she was honest and didn’t let her feelings overrule her professional judgement.

With Luke, I related to the love and loyalty he had for his family. His entire world revolved around his sisters. He would literally do just about anything for their welfare.

Angie: I could connect with Allie. She was lonely and craved that companionship that we all want in life even if we all have significant others. Luke gave her a way to not feel lonely.

One way I connect with him was wanting him in real life. He would be an amazing boyfriend and husband. Who wouldn’t want someone to cherish and worship them? I also connect with him about his family. I would do anything for my sister so I can relate.

What did you think overall?

Micah: I loved this story, I loved the characters, I loved the romance, I loved everything. This is a top read of the year for me, for sure. I love Nicole Williams and this has to be one of my favorites from her and that is REALLY saying something.

Liezel: I’ve mentioned in my last Nicole Williams review that … Each of her stories is strikingly different and always, always, always leave a lasting impression. This is why she is now one of my must-read authors.

….Stealing Home exactly proves my point.

Angie: I love Stealing Home! Each of her characters are unique with each book she writes. I’ve read almost every book by Nicole and this is one of my top 2 reads by her! Now saying that her writing keeps getting better with each book she writes and she’s an already amazing author!

Would you recommend this book?

Micah: OMG YES!!! Read it! Buy it right when it comes out! I promise you will not be disappointed! Even if you aren’t a fan of sports romances, I promise, this book is the book for you. The feels! The SWOONY feels are so off the charts, you will love it.

Liezel: You are crazy if you are obsessed with contemporary romance like we are then don’t hesitate to read this book. Everything about it was fantastic!

Angie: Yes! Like Micah and Liezel said above! Also what are you waiting for? Stealing Home is one of those books that will stick with you for awhile and one that you don’t want to let go.
