She’s good at achieving her goals…

College senior Sabrina James has her whole future planned out: graduate from college, kick butt in law school, and land a high-paying job at a cutthroat firm. Her path to escaping her shameful past certainly doesn’t include a gorgeous hockey player who believes in love at first sight. One night of sizzling heat and surprising tenderness is all she’s willing to give John Tucker, but sometimes, one night is all it takes for your entire life to change.

But the game just got a whole lot more complicated

Tucker believes being a team player is as important as being the star. On the ice, he’s fine staying out of the spotlight, but when it comes to becoming a daddy at the age of twenty-two, he refuses to be a bench warmer. It doesn’t hurt that the soon-to-be mother of his child is beautiful, whip-smart, and keeps him on his toes. The problem is, Sabrina’s heart is locked up tight, and the fiery brunette is too stubborn to accept his help. If he wants a life with the woman of his dreams, he’ll have to convince her that some goals can only be made with an assist.

Q & A By Angie, Liezel and Micah

So far, out of all the Off Campus books how does The Goal compare?

Angie: I might be in a minority here but this is my favorite one of them all. They all have hot as hell sex but there’s something about a country boy that does it for me. Not only that but the story and characters were easy to relate too.

Liezel: I enjoyed them all equally. This is what is so great about this series …while they share commonalities (hockey and  fabulous sex) each story has something different to offer. The couples’ have varying obstacles, some more serious than others but all interesting and relatable just the same.

Micah: I didn’t like this one as much as the others.  Now, I DID like it, don’t get me wrong.  I love this entire series, but this wasn’t a standout.  I was annoyed with the characters quite a few times and it was lacking the humor that the previous ones had.  That being said, it was a compelling story and I read it in 3 nights (I am going to school and don’t have much free time to read.  So this is INCREDIBLY fast nowadays!)

Which character, if any, did you relate to?

Angie:  I related with Sabrina. Growing up poor and doing the best you could with the money that you had I understood her struggles. I know how it feels to be ashamed of where you live or how you dress. Always being judged by others. Closing yourself off and having thick skin making yourself a cold hearted bitch to others. I also know about overcoming that and becoming someone better than anyone ever expected.

Liezel: I really want to say  Tucker because his character was terrific but just like Angie and Micah, Sabrina is who I related to the most. Just like her, I would work my ass off to get out off such difficult situation. Her independence too was something relatable. She had so many simpler ways out but she chose to do things on her own which I thought was commendable.

Micah: I would say Sabrina, but I would also say no.  Her core personality is basically me.  She is very driven, she wants to go to law school, everyone thinks she is icy… I mean, that is me.   I wanted to go to law school and everyone thinks I have a cold heart.  Like her, I have a tough exterior and high walls.  However, some of her decision-making processes, I felt, went against her core personality since I share it.

What did you like/dislike about The Goal?

Angie: I love the chemistry between Sabrina and Tucker. I loved how she didn’t give in easy and the chase she gave him. I love them as a whole.

I disliked Sabrina at times. I understand why she was closed off and had problems trusting people but I hated how wishy washy she was at times and that bugged the crap out of me. Sometimes I wanted to smack some sense into her. It takes a special man to go through all her indecisiveness.

Liezel: I’m going to be the odd one out and say that I liked the characters the most. Sure, some of their decisions may have been questionable but when you think about it…  these are young adults making life changing decisions. I thought they handled their situation well considering.

Dislike? There were 1-2 instances where I thought that the story was a bit drawn out especially at the two-thirds mark but it hindsight it made the ending that much more impactful.

Micah: I like the writing.  As with all of the Off Campus books, it is well written and makes you feel for the characters.  I also liked getting a glimpse into the lives of the past couples we’ve read about.

I disliked a few things.  This book read concurrently with Dean’s story and while I kind of knew that going in, it got confusing at times.  I felt like sometimes that could have been handled better. Like Angie, I was frustrated with BOTH characters and their indecision and their bullheadedness.  One would pull away and the other would return in kind.  So much miscommunication and it was insane.

Would you recommend this book?

Angie: I definitely would! I really loved The Goal and anyone who loves sweet, college sports romances and any other of Elle Kennedy’s Off Campus books they would definitely love this one!

Liezel: Yes! If sports romance is your thing I would definitely recommend this book. In fact, I would recommend the entire series! I personally can not get enough of these sexy hockey players. Keep them coming Elle!

Micah: If you love the series, you need to read it.  I really enjoyed Tucker and this is a must read for the series.  There wasn’t much sport in it, but it was mentioned, so if you’re into that, it’s worth picking up.
