Una

To many, I am little more than a myth. The Kiss of Death, a hired killer, revered by some of the greatest criminal organisations in the world. Trained by the bratva themselves, without conscience, without mercy, the perfect soldier. I’ll kill anyone… for a price. Death doesn’t discriminate, she sells to the highest bidder, but even I have a weakness.

Nero

I want one thing—power. But power is merely a game of strategy. The pieces are on the chess board. Death is my queen, and also my pawn. She’ll paint this city red in exchange for the one thing she wants. Now all I have to do is watch it all play out. She’s nothing more than a weapon, and yet, I find myself wanting to dance with death, to possess her. And I always get what I want.

A game of power. A risk that could cost her everything. An obsession that would see the world burn at their feet. A bloodied king. A broken queen. Kill me or kiss me?

Q&A Review BY Angie & Liezel

Which character do you relate to the most?

Angie: I related to Una in a way. My life was never easy even though hers was far worse. I should say I relate to her fight to survive. To not let what’s happening to her ruin her and come out stronger than before. Also not trusting people.

Liezel: I agree with what Angie said but only that… I could relate with Una’s sense of loyalty especially towards her family. She would literally do anything including risking her own life for her sister.

What did you like about this book?

Angie: I love the darkness. I love the kickass assassin that Una is. I love Nero. How persistent he is and how he knows what he wants but he also respects Una.

I really did love this book and I couldn’t put it down. It’s that addicting. I had to know what was going on. It kept me on the edge of my seat until the very end. I had so many emotions throughout it. When I got done reading I told Liezel that I was just so pissed. I couldn’t even talk about Kill Me. L.P. Dover elicited so much emotion in me that I was left speechless. That ending, though. Ugh.

Liezel: I’ve always loved stories involving strong female leads and Una is just that and so much more! From the very first chapters, I was instantaneously hooked!

Another thing is the chemistry between her and Nero. This love-hate relationship that they had going on was ridiculous! Do you remember that movie, Mr. and Mrs. Smith? The angst was basically similar but on steroids.

What was your favorite quote?

Angie:

For the first time in a long time, I want something other than just power.
I want her.
She will be my jewel in my crown.
My broken queen.

Liezel: I agree with Angie. For me, it shows that Nero (who, btw, is was one scary, cold-blooded, heartless mofo) is capable of feeling emotions beyond vengeance and hatred. That he would literally do anything (even if it seemed beyond his power) to obtain the unobtainable – Una.

Would you recommend this book?

Angie: Yes I would. Anyone that loves dark romance will love this book. It definitely didn’t disappoint me and I’ve read a lot of dark reads. It’s not as twisted as some that I’ve read so it’s a great book to start out if you’re curious and scared about coming to the dark side. This is my first book by L.P. Dover so I can’t compare it to her other work but it didn’t disappoint me. The writing was consistent and flawless. The characters had so much depth to them that when you’re reading it you’re reading each individual character’s part in the language they speak. I can’t wait for book 2!

Liezel: I thought that the writing was impeccable. I will admit that the ending was frustrating BUT everything else about it was magnificent.

If you are looking for a dark and intense, action-filled, suspenseful, smoldering hot romance involving a kickass female lead then hell yeah I would recommend this book.

The Verdict:
