Yara Phillips is a wandering muse.

She dates men who need her, but always moves on to something new, never staying in one place for very long.

David Lisey is in need of a muse.

A talented musician lacking lyrical inspiration. When he first sees her, he knows he's found what he's been looking for.

Yara believes she can give David exactly what he needs to reach his full potential:
A broken heart.

David’s religion is love.

Yara’s religion is heartache.

Neither is willing to surrender, but religion always requires sacrifice.

Liezel’s Thoughts:

The story starts as off as a bit of cliché… boy walks into a bar, spots this attractive girl, sparks fly, boy hits on this girl etc etc etc… But I tell you what, whatever happens after the blah blah blah is anything but cliché.

Yara Phillips possesses this extremely interesting character. Where most people attempt to find stability and consistency, or a place to settle down and grow roots,  Yara is the complete opposite. She is a drifter. She wanders conscientiously from city to city all throughout the world without a care in the world.

At first, it was difficult to comprehend this idea then you begin to think what is it that made her become this way and what would have to happen to make her stay. David Lisey, the musician perhaps?

From day one he declared his intentions which were completely absurd. I watched as the unbelievable “love at first sight” concept played out. As the story flows and we witness the intimacy of their interactions you begin to wonder about all the possibilities. Despite barely having anything in common, they truly fit. Yara truly was David’s muse.

Their love was always there but so were a magnitude of insecurities and this was what made things challenging. Did they get over it?  It was a long and winding road but everything progressed as it should be.

Atheists Who Kneel and Pray may have started off as a little on the slower side for me but I was glad I pressed though because Tarryn Fisher tells us yet another thought provoking, beautiful and epic love story in this one.

The Verdict:
