Colleen Hoover’s New York Times bestselling Slammed series has brought countless readers to their knees with a whirlwind of love, passion, and heartache.

Layken and Will’s love has managed to withstand the toughest of circumstances and the young lovers, now married, are beginning to feel safe and secure in their union. As much as Layken relishes their new life together, she finds herself wanting to know everything there is to know about her husband, even though Will makes it clear he prefers to keep the painful memories of the past where they belong. Still, he can’t resist his wife’s pleas and so he begins to untangle his side of the story, revealing for the first time his most intimate feelings and thoughts, retelling both the good and bad moments, and sharing a few shocking confessions of his own from the time when they first met.

In This Girl, Will tells the story of their complicated relationship from hispoint of view. Their future rests on how well they deal with the past in this final installment of the beloved Slammed series.

Liezel’s Thoughts:

“Wife, think what you want, but there isn’t a single woman in this whole damn universe that I could ever love like I love you.”

Lake and Will are on their honeymoon, reminiscing the events that lead up to their marriage and honeymoon all written in Will’s point of view.

I’ve read Slammed and Point of Return so many times last year and you would think that their story would get  old by now but it still hasn’t for me. Most alternate POV books  seem  redundant  but with this one there was so much more going on in Will’s mind I couldn’t help but remain intriguing. Seeing more of Will and Julia’s interactions was also interesting.

“Layken Cooper, I love you. I’ve loved you since the second I laid eyes on you and I haven’t stopped loving you for a second since.”

The poetry slamming was also flawless. I found myself  going back to the passages reading them  over and over again. That’s what took me too long to get this book read!  I just didn’t want things to ever end. The Epilogue was emotional and dramatic. Julia really did think of everything. The story was just perfect!

The one year wait was also worth it.  The passion and love between those two is remarkable.  Although nine times? That seems just a little over the top. Is that even possible?

Of all the books series I’ve read this has to be the best  alternate POV series ever. Ms. Hoover has just out done herself. If you didn’t fall  in love with Will in Slammed or Point of Retreat then this will definitely do you in.   The series might be pricier than most but believe me when I tell you it is worth every single penny. There’s just nothing much more I can say about this one. Go read it and cry your eyeballs out like I did.

What next? I wish that there was more of this story. I would love to read about Kel and Caulder and maybe even Kiersten – like maybe  in their college years. A POV featuring either one of them saying how both Lake and Will’s decisions on raising them affected their lives would be such a tear-jerker. Oh please, please Ms. Hoover don’t let this be the last one.

The Verdict:

rating-5

Casting:

Dave Franco as Will Cooper. (Side note: I think he’s cuter than his brother James.) I can’t decide on a Lake yet. I’ll get back to you on that one =)
