Hanna Boudreaux has lived in the small town of Willow, Colorado all her life. The great-granddaughter of the town matriarch, she's sweet, cute and quiet.

Too quiet.

Hanna has a moment of epiphany when she realizes her crush for forever, Raiden Ulysses Miller, is not ever going to be hers. She sees her life as narrow and decides to do something about it.

Raiden Miller is the town of Willow's local hero. An ex-marine with the medal to prove his hero status, he comes home, shrouded in mystery. It takes a while but, eventually, Hanna catches his eye.

But after all these years of Raid and Hanna living in the same town, the question is, why? Is Raid interested in Hanna because she's sweet and cute? Or does Raid have something else going on?

Liezel’s Thoughts:

“I told you I didn’t dream as a kid of bein’ a cop or an astronaut, but I gave a lot of thought to the woman I’d want in my bed. I grew older and gave more thought to that woman, but it was also about the woman I wanted in my life. And she was you. Then I met you. And now, every day I wake up I cant believe my luck because you’re here.”

This is book 3 of the Unfinished Heroes series. The series is NOT your typical good guy, save the princess , slay the dragon romance. It’s about three guys living a not so clean lifestyle finding the love of their lives and the challenges they have to go through to obtain happiness. Being that they’re in not so legal business matters they bind together to protect and defend their loves and families.

In book 3 we are introduced to Raiden and Hanna. Hanna has always had a crush on Raid since early childhood. Great grand-daughter to the town’s matriarch, Hanna has always been Willow’s sweetheart. She’s caring, loving, pretty and fun. Perfect. At first Raiden never acknowledges her and after multiple attempts of trying to get his attention she gives up and decides to finally live her life. She goes and gets a makeover, buys a sports car and decides to become more outgoing. Right before she goes on vacation Raiden finally notices her but then she disappears for 5 months. When she comes back home, it is on!

“Cause all you gotta know is it’s gonna be you- and only you- until the day I die, because life did not lead me down the wrong path when I fell in love with a girl who had the sun shining in her hair who would eventually not do it for me. You’re  not just  enough for me.You’re everything I want.”

Raiden starts pursuing her. And he goes the traditional route and starts with her grand grandma. Unfortunately it doesn’t all go as planned. Hanna overhears a conversation and thought that Raiden was using her. Here we come to find out what Raiden’s profession really is. Yes he was a war hero but after an incident where he lost all of his buddies he decides to leave the service and becomes a bounty hunter.  Living in illegalities and danger.

Despite all this and Gram’s warnings they fall in a passionate romance. And what a romance it is! Raiden is the total alpha-male. But even when he is so, he always gives her a choice and much to her delight she absolutely loves it, all of it. He brings out the best in her.

Naturally as the story progresses an incident happens where Hanna gets tangled up in Raid’s business and is beaten. This obviously doesn’t sit well with Raid and the whole crew gets involved to punish the guy who has committed crimes  against Knight’s family and of course Hanna. Not to go into details but all ends well and everyone gets their HEA.

“You do it for me like no woman before you. I lose control because you make me and you get my teeth, and what makes that shit better is you love havin’ my mark on you.”

All in all, this is another beautiful story by Kristen Ashley. I enjoyed the fact that it just felt so real. The details that were put into the book were just exquisite… small town where everyone knew each other, how some of the townsfolk bickered in church, the fat cat in the basket, even the tin cans of cat food running all over the floor . Also how REAL the characters were to me. Grandma Boudreaux was delightful, everyone needs someone like her in their life. The bedroom (or in some instances the kitchen) scenes were just perfectly done. Not over the top, just impeccable!

The Verdict:

rating-4

What I want to see in the next book?

I would want a book about HAL. Raid got over his nightmares through meeting Hanna, I want to know how Hal gets over his violent tendencies or more specifically who helps him through it.

My casting picks:

I wanted to pick someone muscular and a total alpha male for Raid and thought Tom Hardy would be so perfect for this. For Hanna, I wanted someone simple and innocent yet beautiful so I picked Kirsten Dunst.

My Hanna choice.

About Kristen Ashley

Kristen Ashley was born in Gary, Indiana, USA. She nearly killed her mother and herself making it into the world, seeing as she had the umbilical cord wrapped around her neck (already attempting to accessorise and she hadn’t taken her first breath!).

Kristen grew up in Brownsburg, Indiana but has lived in Denver, Colorado and the West Country of England. Thus she has been blessed to have friends and family around the globe. Her posse is loopy (to say the least) but loopy is good when you want to write.
