Nathan Mercer, the only man in my life.
Loving him was never an option.

We met ten years ago, when we started at the same company on the same day.
Both new in town and with nobody else to rely on, we quickly became friends.

And while Nathan went on to rule San Francisco, I’m still doing the same job with the same people.
We finish each other’s sentences, we spend Christmas together and he sleeps at my house more than his.
He’s beautiful…. beyond belief.
In another life, he’s probably my soul mate.

However, lately things have changed. He’s started looking at me differently.
His eyes drop to my lips as I speak.
His hugs are tighter…. longer.
Our fights are more passionate, his jealousy insane.

I know it’s all in my head….it has to be.

They say to never love someone who treats you like you’re ordinary.
I don’t. To him I’m a queen.

But our story is complicated.
And as much as I love Nathan Mercer with all of my heart. . .
He’s the one man I can never have.

Liezel’s Thoughts:

I didn’t read the synopsis nor check out the reviews before reading “Our Way.” I wanted that element of surprise on my side, and sure enough, it started off as being pleasantly surprised.

Early on, I thought it was terrific witnessing every tiny detail on how Eliza and Nathan’s beautiful friendship unfolded. It definitely was an excellent foundation for a beautiful friendship but what made things complicated was Nathan’s sexuality. The way the author described his sexuality was definitely an eye-opening experience for me, which I deeply appreciated.

As their story progressed, however, I had difficulty dealing with the repetitive nagging, the constant mistrust, and the jealousy. It was a little bit overdone for me.  I thought that the couple’s chemistry was amazing, but for some reason, some of those scenes  (especially towards the end) did not flow organically.

But hey, I am all for happy endings! And I am glad the author gave us a good one in this book. Seeing how Eliza and Nathan’s relationship five years and beyond was the icing on the cake.

The Verdict:

About T.L. Swan

Originally from Sydney, I now reside in a dreamy beachside town on the South Coast of Australia with my hunk of a hubby, our three children and a menagerie of spoilt pets.

I love Margaritas, Chocolate and a swoony good book with a strong storyline. With a background in Mental Health, I write characters that you want to be friends with, strong alphas to fall in love with and witty women you want to be.

When I’m not writing you will find me in a cafe drinking coffee and eating cake.
